March Motivation #2: Climbing without gaining altitude?
There are always those moments in life where you have studied hard for your exam and yet failed, gave all your attention to a relationship that quickly broke, or sacrificed something to be kicked with neglect. The climb is not easy, and the going gets hard at times. This does not lend itself for you to give in, and engrave in your mind that the climb is not meant for you. Rather it is quite the opposite approach which will bear the most fruit.
Whatever you do, whatever you hear, and whatever you say, make sure you filter and react in a way as to always keep yourself aware of what you are, what you want to do, and how you could get there (topic for another March Motivation). While going about your worldly duties, you will come across a multitude of different attitudes towards life, but you must make sure you are climbing the right path.
After you have discovered your true path, which in some cases can take a lifetime, you should pursue that path in whatever capability you have today. Obviously, if you are trying to run and own the next big airline, you need to prepare, hustle, and grow yourself from the small to the big in a position to be able to process such high level expectations. If you are a student pursuing Computer Science and Engineering (like me) or any other major, and a few tests really set you back, don’t be hindered, but rather, fight your way through. Failures have only bred stronger and more adaptive individuals. Perhaps you are an employee which has been discriminated against due to your gender (#ubersurvivor), in which case fight it out to a limit, or leave, explore, and position yourself in a more open-minded and respecting environment (the type of environment we strive to build at KaamLo). Whatever your passion and journey dictates, follow it and don’t falter due to some minor hiccups.
Well, what about the instances where I have given my best, but it just doesn’t work out? First of all, you have to re-evaluate yourself of whether what you are testing out is truly what you would want to do forever. After that point, there are many factors that play out in a failure, which you may have never accounted for. It becomes a numbers game, and the more you know, strategize, and try, the more you will grow and develop. Some factors are completely out of your control, but when the next opportunity arises, the same set of factors could play out in your favor.
The climb is tough, and while you may not see progress today, hang in there, and continue to try, because in the end, it only takes one ladder to make it to the top!
