Behind the Scenes
The purpose of this article is to take you behind the scenes and bring you closer to the founders of Kaby Arena.
Chief Executive Officer
CEO, Nhan Bui, not only has the competitive gaming background to assure quality high level gaming metrics for Kaby Arena, but he was also a former IT lead at RMIT for 10 years giving him a strong edge in executive decision making and overall knowledge of the industry. Though their first blockchain project, Nhan, is far from a novice when it comes to digital collectibles. Being heavily involved in Steam’s digital collectible marketplace, Nhan, was able to see not only the player prosperity and valued interests in this NFT progenitor concept, but also its point of weakness at the centralized hand’s of Valve; whose interest at times didn’t align with the players holding these collectibles. When NFT’s began trending, Nhan saw this as the next step of evolution in digital collectibles. A quote from Nhan Bui will tie together past experiences with his vision for Kaby Arena and its player’s best interests.
“I want to replicate the success of Steam market with Kaby, by mitigating the risk of a centralized point of failure with blockchain”
Chief Operations Officer
COO, Anh Phan, also not only has the competitive gaming background, but fully understands the value of interpersonal networking and its operation in Kaby’s success. As a PhD graduate from NAIST, Phan spent 5 year in Japan as a data and Artificial Intelligence scientist. Phan also sees the future of gaming moving towards the prevalent player ownership of their in-game virtual assets known as today as NFT’s. When asked about Kaby Arena’s mission and why it was built on blockchain, Phan replied,
“We started Kaby Arena with the idea of creating the first Esport NFT game in the world. Blockchain is in line with our idea about the players’ ownership of digital assets.”
Their Vision
Nhan and Phan not only attended the same University and have known each other for 15 years, they also competed together on the same DOTA Esports team during their competitive gaming careers. Through discussions with one another on the P2E model, Steam Market, and general Esports knowledge they agreed that NFT gaming and player owned virtual assets is the future of gaming. They even entertained the thought of a virtual sims dating game.
Nhan and Phan moved to exploring Steam’s market as it had been sustainable for decades. Feeling that because they treat all games as just games and not primarily as an investment game, people were able to either have economic gains or just choose to collect solely for the love of gaming. In order for people to want to play the game they knew it had to be a quality game and be fairly competitive for both the casual and professional gamer so that winning provides a feeling of great achievement.
In this Industry with the lack of seriousness and barriers created such as App stores making crypto and NFT games difficult to get listed, Nhan and Phan were incentivized to embark on the journey of finally having one fully recognized. What better way to do this than by appearing on the professional Esports stage with serious competition, tournaments and big prizes! In achieving this vision of Nhan and Phan’s, there would be no more question of legitimacy for the world of NFT gaming.
