After more than two years of being in a state of constant lockdowns and coronavirus case fluctuations, the world is now in its new normal.

Despite seeing a majority of the population trying to get back to their usual routines, some people remain hesitant to indulge in physical transactions. This feeling of constant anxiousness is valid in every aspect. In fact, given the COVID responses of the Philippines, it is nerve-wracking knowing that the nation trails far from foreign countries.

Re-entry Anxiety, an adjustment disorder that is fueled by the fear of going back to a world that is forever changed by the pandemic, describes this discomfort all too well. Is this unsettling emotional disposition a big hurdle to personal and career growth?

In some ways, yes, but in most cases, no. Although this situation poses a lot of risks, it actually opens up more opportunities than one can ever imagine. The only option now is to go out and face the new world with the right mindset. That said, here are some tips to overcome re-entry anxiety:

Keep your line open

The pandemic has been a great avenue for self-reflection and personal space. However, it is important to maintain healthy communication with family and friends. One of the best ways to conquer emotional disturbances is to have a core group that will serve as morale boosters and safety nets in times of breakdowns and panic. Sometimes, a listening ear is enough to calm you from all your anxieties.

Take baby steps

The fact that the world is slowly going back to a fully functional physical system should not put pressure on you to adapt instantaneously. Two years of being in constant lockdown forced us to follow strict routines that served as our personal safeguards against the pandemic. As such, it will be challenging to break free. It is vital to acknowledge your worries and take things at your own pace.

Gear up

With the coronavirus still going on like a marathon, it is important to take the essentials needed to protect yourself from the risks. In this way, you will be less worried about contracting the virus.

Find the right push

May it be your personal choice to go out or your aspirations for a career, finding the right motivation to face the new world sets a big foundation. Regardless of the obstacles, when you find the right hook to pull you out of this nightmare, everything will gradually come together. Just have faith.
