Two Whole Years!
On this day two years ago, Kajal Magazine was launched online. What started out as a private project to collect the work of South Asian women of the diaspora quickly became an international platform. To be honest, we never expected this to happen — we only planned for the first month!
It’s been a full and amazing two years: Kajal started out as a newborn, brought kicking and screaming into this world with impassioned essays, poetry and art and now it’s like a toddler, waddling around and knocking things over. We’re definitely still learning how to control our motor functions, but the process has been glorious.
We have some major plans for the year ahead — from publishing our first printed volume to putting out even more episodes of Browntown, we’re going to be expanding the way we tell our stories. 2017 is gonna be big.
As far as 2016 goes, we’ve collected all our favorite pieces from this past year in our Year in Review. Ch-ch-ch-check it out and we’ll be back soon with new stuff! Byeeeeeeeeee
