So, one of my friends was telling me the other day how during Induction, she felt tired one day and decided to stay back in the hostel, giving the activities a miss. When she comes down for dinner that evening, and the full gang at the dining table is discussing how she had been studying the whole day! She was surprised and told them that she had been resting. All of them burst into laughter, saying things like, “You Chatur, we know you are gonna top, studying like that, in your room!”

That’s just an average day

These innocent people, the ones who had thought that it would be as pleasantly simple as the induction week( hosting mafia parties late into the night ), had no clue that it was just the lull before the thunderstorm!( hosting study sessions LATE into the night!! )

But seriously, when someone says (especially if they are an IIITDian) that they are sleeping, believe them, JUST believe them (who hasn’t seen students running from their bed at 12:05 for a lab exam at 12:15, after brushing, of course), because, only the good Lord knows how much IIITDians would love to rest, after the Herculean tasks they perform, wait, Herculean what?

Consider the IP homework, for which you promised yourself that you are going to the canteen after writing the function to generate prime implicants. The moment it is done, you jump with excitement, when suddenly your phone rings (with the typical Backpack notification sound), what could it be?

Well, the Systems Management management decided that you haven’t had enough of AWK already. There’s more, your phone reminds you that the Comm blog deadline is at 11:59 PM.

Notes found on the phone of a Wizard

All your mind wants to do right now is to find a reason as to why is it not 12:00 AM? Just why not give that extra minute? And then you ask yourself… No, wait... You go to the canteen (and it had to be full of people, only today), order a paratha, and wait for it. Now, after waiting for a long, long time ( You physically check if your nails have grown this while ), you question the entire world now, “Kya mazaak hora hai ye?”… You also start realizing why CBSE chose to include this one paragraph in the syllabus —

Then all effort ceased. I relaxed. Even my legs felt limp; and a blackness swept over my brain. It wiped out fear; it wiped out terror. There was no more panic. It was quiet and peaceful. Nothing to be afraid of. This is nice... to be drowsy... to go to sleep... no need to jump... too tired to WORK... it’s nice to be carried gently... to float along in space... tender arms around me... tender arms like Mother’s... now I must go to SLEEP...

That’s when your friends find you sitting in the canteen and convince you to go for a stroll. And, who doesn’t act all high, when chilling with a group of friends, and walking in the middle of college road? But, but, that’s exactly when the Professor has to drive past you, flashing the car headlights... and all you can do is shout (in the back of your head), “Oohh, Sheeeeet!!” (some people just have a very uncanny way of saying things, which becomes a sacred mantra for the whole group) and then you gotta go and finish your IP assignment, write Comm blogs, start SM assignment, code, sleep, eat, workout... wait, EAT! you had ordered a paratha, RUN!!

And you also go and practice music (Audiobytes event coming up), and yeah, work on that pet project that you had been dreaming about since school days, the one, the one you think is going to transform the world...

Yes, you were born to Revolutionize...

And you will do it!!

( Seriously, first go and finish SM, dude )

And don’t forget to ROCK the world!!
