*SG please forward to all cohorts**

Dear all,

In light of the recent concerns some of you may have voiced, we, the Administration of Ashoka wanted to reaffirm our commitment to your freedom of expression. Here are some of the many ways you can still express yourselves in a suitable manner.

  1. We pride ourselves on allowing our faculty members to speak openly about a wide variety of topics. Listed below are the approved topics faculty members can speak their mind on:
  • The movie “Roshomon”
  • Table tennis
  • Linear algebra
  • Postcolonial theory (as long as you don’t make it political)

2. Every Ashokan has a right to protest peacefully. To facilitate a smooth protesting experience, here is the official procedure to be followed

  • Register your protest with the OSA 30 days in advance (60 if you are inviting external guests)
  • Submit a complete transcript of the protest proceedings (including all speeches, paraphernalia, and small talk) 15 days in advance
  • If you require reimbursement, submit a form for the same
  • Post your ‘protest’, wait for an official appraisal from our office based on which we will decide the validity of your right to protest in the future

3. In case you are unhappy with any of our policies, we have included ways for you to seek redressal for the same.

  • Resign

We are confident that we will get through this together as a community. Hand in hand, we will see better days,

Warmly,
Ashoka University
