Meet the Kambrian — Kishore

It’s time to introduce Kishore Balasubramanyan. He recently joined Kambr as Head of Customer Success and Support. Read on to learn about his fun internship with Southwest and his fateful travel experiences.

Where are you from?

I was born in India, raised in Dubai, attended university in Florida and have been living in Houston, TX for the past 15 years.

What’s your role at Kambr?

I joined Kambr as the Head of Customer Success and Support to build and scale the CSS function

What was your path to Kambr?

After some conversations with the founders of Kambr and understanding their vision, I was convinced joining Kambr at this time was the right decision and a fantastic opportunity.

Having worked at Continental Airlines (now United), Delta Airlines and PROS primarily in Revenue Management and Customer facing roles, I hope to help achieve what Kambr has set out to do and have fun doing it!

What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?

I’m a social/people person and love to get to know as many of my colleagues as possible, hopefully in person, if not virtually.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

My wife and I love to travel the world, explore different cultures, try different food/wine etc.

What’s your superpower?

I’m an energetic person — love to work hard and play hard!

What are you proud of?

Having travelled to many parts of the world.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Try something new and take on new challenges that help you broaden your mind.

What’s one thing you love to do?

Travel and going out with friends/family and having a good time.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Commercial Pilot. However, I got my Private Pilot License, so achieved part of it 😊

What’s the most interesting (or unusual) job you’ve had?

Not sure about unusual — but it was fun for sure — I interned at Southwest Airlines in the Flight Operations Department and as part of the job, I got to fly Boeing 737 Simulators and also sit in the cockpit with actual Southwest pilots and learn how to fly from them!

What’s your favorite/dream destination to fly to?

I have a few…Tahiti, Madagascar, Bora Bora, Japan.

What’s the airport you’ve been to the most?

IAH — Houston , TX by way of living here.

What’s your favorite aviation related film?

Action- Top Gun; Comedy — Airplane.

Window seat or aisle seat?

Aisle please, don’t like getting squished in, especially in Economy!

Do you have any funny or weird flight stories?

Not so much funny, but a bit scary for sure — On two separate occasions while traveling for work, I narrowly missed terror-related incidents.

The Sri-Lankan Easter attack in Colombo (I was supposed to stay in one of those hotels that got bombed) and one of the airports in Europe (I forgot which one) had a bombing in the security area which I had passed through the day prior to the bombing. Thank God, I missed them!
