Where are you from?
I am a Chilean girl raised in Temuco, a city 7 hours drive, south of the capital city Santiago. I currently live in Santiago.
When did you first join Kambr?
What’s your role at Kambr?
I am part of the Kambr Advisory Group and my role is Lead Advisor, Professional Services. I am part of the team that interacts with customers for our solution implementation and training.
What do you love most about working at Kambr?
It is great to be part of a very talented and multicultural group of people called the Kambrians, and together, revolutionize commercial aviation
What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?
I am a pilot. I know how to fly 4 different types of planes. I got my license in Chile, and when I was consulting and living in Nairobi, I wanted to keep my flying skills and fly over Africa. So, I went to the local flying club and signed up. I took off from Wilson Airport, which is a challenging airport, in a very old airplane. I was a little nervous but flying over the Nairobi National Park was an incredible experience, I must admit I still don’t know the emergency procedure if you have to land next to a lion.
What’s your biggest personal accomplishment?
Very cliché but true. My family. My funny, highly motivated husband and my adorable 1year old daughter.
And second to that, back in 2013 I started my private pilot training. I was flying every weekend early morning. I quit partying and having a drink or two for a few months. After 1 year of that lifestyle, I got my license, and I have had the best time since.
What do you do for fun?
My husband is also a pilot and we like flying a plane and discovering new runways and those famous 100-dollar burgers. I love outdoor activities like hiking, biking and Stand Up Paddleboarding. I try to document all those experiences, taking pictures and videos!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I wanted to be a hairdresser. I just loved to go with my mom to the hair salon and see how the hairdresser would cut my mom’s hair with perfection, I wanted to create that perfection. Later I discovered physics and math and I decided to be an engineer instead.
What’s one big thing on your bucket list?
Attend a F1 race in Europa, Monza would be awesome! Also finish learning how to kitesurf.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
Difficult question. My favorite animal is the elephant, I adopted one in an orphanage in Kenya… but I like staring at them, not being one. I would choose a duck, because they can swim, fly and walk.
Is there any tv show you can watch over and over?
The Big Bang Theory and Grey’s Anatomy.
Favorite place to fly to.
If I am the pilot in command, I would fly all over the coast of Chile. I love flying over the beach, and sometimes if we are lucky, we can see dolphins surfing.
If I am in a commercial plane, I would fly to any beach or island that I have not yet visited.
What’s your favorite aviation related song?
“On top of the world” by Imagine Dragons. Why? Because this is the song I selected for the video I did for my first solo. That was how I felt at the moment.
Do you have any funny or weird flight stories?
I worked for an airline, so I used to travel on standby tickets. One time I was trying to come back from Madrid to Santiago, and suddenly all flights were full. I manage to find the Capitan of the flight, and I asked him if I can use the jump seat, in the end I was “lucky” and he allowed me to use it. Those were the longest 13 hours of my life. I discovered it is impossible to sleep in a jump seat.
Most memorable travel moment.
My honeymoon in Egypt, two memorable moments: first, diving in the red sea with dolphins and second, the Giza pyramids in Cairo. The energy inside the pyramid is incredible.
Window seat or aisle seat?
It depends on which cabin, time of the day, duration and potential view. I love the window, but I also like stretching my legs.
