How to Detect Fake News Before It’s Even Written

Dr. Preslav Nakov gave a presentation about how AI can be used to detect fake news — before it’s even written. Given the recent proliferation of disinformation online, there has been a growing research interest in automatically debunking rumors, false claims, and “fake news”. A number of fact-checking initiatives have been launched so far, both manual and automatic, but the whole enterprise remains in a state of crisis. Can we can fact-check the news before it is written? Dr. Nakov shows us how.

From Simulation to Real Robots: An Optimization View in Mechanics Design

Phuong Hoang gave a presentation covering how robots can be taken from simulation to real robots. Recently, we have seen great potential applications of both consumer and industrial robots. However, it is not one night story to build a robot from scratch. In this talk, Phuong provides a working pipeline to build a real robot from mechanics design to simulation to construct a real legged robot.

Toyota, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Mobility

Dr. James J. Kuffner gave an insightful presentation about Toyota and artificial intelligence entitled “Toyota and the Future of Mobility.” In the history of human culture, people have been building, moving and communicating. Learn about Toyota’s latest research on self-driving cars and their mission to called “Mobility for ALL.”

Vietnamese Data Augmentation by Backtranslation

Thang Le from the VietAI team discussed data augmentation and the concept of the backtranslation. He also discussed how to apply this technique in translation from English to Vietnamese. What do you do when you have very limited data to feed your model? This is where data augmentation comes in — data augmentation is a great tool to fix the problem of limited data.
