With strong support from local communities, governments, and major enterprise companies, Kambria is committed to supporting AI developers. Because our community is the backbone of Kambria, we are working diligently to grow a tech ecosystem in Vietnam and beyond.

Kambria has been the main organizer of several major AI events in Vietnam including the Vietnam AI Grand Challenge and VietAI Summit 2018 and 2019 where we provided developers with training, networking and community building. Learn more about these events and our current Kambria Code Challenge to get involved in accelerating AI and robotics development.

Vietnam AI Grand Challenge

Last year, Kambria held a series of hackathons called the Vietnam AI Grand Challenge . The event took place within the framework of the AI4VN National Artificial Intelligence Festival organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and VnExpress.

At 3 regional rounds held in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi, 90 teams competed in 40-hour hackathons to develop the Ultimate AI Virtual Assistant in areas such as retail, education, and healthcare. Solutions included automatic chatbot calls, product counseling for customers through face recognition, and virtual assistants to help users learn English from daily news.

The 12 teams competing in the Grand Finale represented the best teams from the series and demonstrated the outstanding AI projects young Vietnamese talent is capable of developing.

To prepare for the Grand Finale, 12 winning teams from regional rounds participated in the Kambria AI Incubation Program and received mentoring from over 20 AI experts, business CEOs and major international AI research units. In total, we awarded $40,000 in prizes. Here’s a short video recapping the event.

VietAI Summit 2019

In November, after the Grand Challenge, Kambria partnered with VietAI to successfully host VietAI Summit 2019: “AI for the Future.” The Summit attracted over 500 attendees and featured a line-up of tech experts, world-class researchers, and business leaders in the artificial intelligence community locally and overseas.

Speakers represented companies such as Google Brain, Toyota Research Institute, Kambria, NVIDIA, VinAI Research, Vinbrain, Deakin University, and Vietnam National University HCMC. Attendees learned about cutting-edge AI research and applications, not just in Vietnam, but around the world.
