The Ultimate Smartphone Camera Battle!

Ever wondered how smartphone cameras would fare if you put aside the expensive marketing campaigns? Which camera would win out in a true blinded test? That’s the question I had so, in my spare time, I developed a fun little app to answer it.

The app presents albums of photos taken by multiple different smartphone cameras. At first the user does not know which phone took which photo. When the pick the photo they like best, they find out which phone it was and how the rest of the world has voted for that album. Albums are shown in a random order, and photos within albums are also arranged in a randomized order.

After around 340 odd votes — and the ultimate Apple vs. Samsung battle — it seems there is a clear winner for the 2019 phones. Try out the test yourself at blindtest.co and see which phone you pick and which phone the rest of the world has picked!

For the geeks, this app was made with Angular 10 on the front-end, and a Spring Boot API with Hibernate and SQL database on the backend, all hosted on AWS.
