In the very beginning of 2019, we’ll see a great battle between the giants (Uber, Ola, Swiggy, Amazon, Flipkart and Reliance).

With Uber’s CEO announcing that the next logical step in the evolution of its Eats vertical is moving towards grocery delivery and Swiggy planning to launch grocery as well as medicine delivery services in the Delhi-National Capital Region, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in November this year, it could be easily predicted that this is going to be one of the biggest competitions between giants.

Amazon and Flipkart have already stepped into this sector with Walmart backed Flipkart is said to be allotting close to $400mn in this segment alone.

Ola by acquiring Foodpanda which has a workforce of almost 125,000 delivery executives is expected to launch its e-grocery business in the early 2019 far ahead of Uber.

Not only the above, but soon to be launched Reliance e-commerce is seen to be investing significant resources into this vertical.

Moreover, analysts being bullish on the e-grocery segment and predicting the market worth to be whopping $28bn, who wouldn’t want to enter this segment!!
