At the age of 12, while I was struggling for the life of me if I should play Mario kart or God of War, a kid made 400,000$ selling jpeg files of whales he created in a spur of a moment after adding his unique “creative” twist into it.

This 12-year-old coder is set to earn over $400,000 after about 2 months selling NFTs

Am I jealous? Absolutely

Can I do what he did? Absolutely not!

Is it because I suck at drawing? Possibly

But a bigger reason would be because there was a deeper meaning in what the NFT meant and this tweet explained this the best

Non Fungible Tokens(NFT’s)

Before we proceed, let's understand in simple terms what exactly does the term “Non Fungible Token” means:

Fungible, according to google means “something that can be replicated or copied”, so non-fungible means the exact opposite of that which is basically “unique that cannot be copied or replicated”

And token means — well — token: like how Bitcoin is a token. It’s a representation of some value.

NFT’s first became a thing when CryptoKitties first came out with their novel idea of selling unique virtual cats on the blockchain to the players.

CryptoKitties is a blockchain-based virtual game that allows players to adopt, raise, and trade virtual cats. Cats, on a blockchain!

From that point onward, NFT’s have only been exploding in popularity. Just look at the image below.

While many might think this is a bubble, many others are adamant that this is the next step.

I for one, am on the side of the latter and I believe the rich with all the tax evasive measures possible with art would not let go of this perfect opportunity either let alone all the other use cases that are possible with NFT’s.

If you are curious about the possible use cases with an NFT and would like me to iterate on that, do let me know in the comments and subscribe

But I also believe what we see currently is also not the final evolution of NFT’s.

Adding An Extra….Dimension

We’ve only seen 2D images or gifs made into NFT’s until now, but after coming across the Cybertron punk game I came to a sudden realization.

If a gif of Lebron James dunking can go for 200,000$, what about a 3D character of him that could do more than a single dunk?

This 3D character if equipped with a skeleton that allows it to maneuver around and imitate any movement possible both human and inhuman, just imagine the possibilities.

NFT’s are gonna be the Rolex in the Metaverse

Even the world of FIFA games would be forever changed. I reckon players would have their 3D characters made and would only rent their characters out to game developers for usage, thus enabling them to get passive income forever.

This ain’t a baseless guess cause Travis Scott and Ariana Grande made a fortune by performing in the metaverse similarly.

Forbes

Of course, this concept extends to as far as trading card games like Yu-Gi-Oh too!

Imagine standing beside the hydra in various locations while it's breathing fire in the background, add Mixed Reality into it and we are in for a completely new world of virtual monsters that would literally resemble the Bakugan battle brawlers anime.

Forget popular celebrities, even regular people like you and me would require 3D characters for identity in the coming revolution for Web 3.0, so might as well start early and mint your unique 3D character NFT before all the cool looks are stolen.

If you prefer an example of this, I recently came across a youtube channel Xanadu that I believe is currently the face of the Metaverse and will be how the future looks like for us. Here’s one of the videos.

I too made my very own 3D character for a Hackathon using Photogrammetry a couple of years ago.

Now, all I gotta do is refine it and mint it into an NFT.

Not only, do I develop a unique identity in the metaverse but I am effectively immortalized through this 3D character of mine!!

But Is It Possible For 3D characters to be NFT’s?

The short answer is yes.

This is why I believe 3D designers are in for a windfall and if they can model popular characters into their 3D models and mint them into NFT’s, that man would probably earn Bitclout Founder: DiamondHands respect.

Because that is the exact strategy used by Bitclout to get celebrities to sign up early into its platform.

Underhanded? Yes

Effective? Very much so apparently from the recent rising popularity of the platform.

If you would like to read more about that strategy, check out Bitclout Growth Hacking Strategy and Kanlanc Coins

Coming back to the topic at hand, while performing research for this article, I came across multiple projects in product hunt minting 3D characters into NFT’s.

Now, I am not sponsored by any of them but I am linking one of them because I think it’s a really cool concept.

It’s called Mekaverse and it’s now on Opensea

Mekaverse

Now, if you are a 3D creator or someone curious who would like a step-by-step tutorial on how to mint a 3D character as an NFT and sell your art, do subscribe to the newsletter and let me know what would you like to be added to it in the comments of this article

Why You Should Mint your 3D Character ASAP!

During the .com bubble, many opportunists got hold of popular companies .com domains by registering as soon as possible for them.

As these domains are required to be unique, the companies had to buy these domains back from these people at exorbitant prices. For example, Cars.com was valued at $872 million

I can see the same happening with 3D NFT’s.

If there is an NFT with a character that is similar to yours, you wouldn’t be able to get hold of a customized avatar and would be forced to settle for less or for more $(pun intended). So, while the world still sleeps on this pot of gold, get to work!!

These characters are not only meant for showing off to people that you have an immortalized 3D version of you in the blockchain(Not gonna lie, that would be pretty dope too) but also because they have actual use cases like using them to:

  • Attend VR Events
  • KYC by using it as a Virtual Identity Management Tool
  • Clothes and accessories shopping ( Instead of putting it on mannequins, you would get to see how would they look on you!)
  • and many more!

Conclusion

Truth is, almost anybody can get started with NFT’s…even a 12-year-old can do it :)

But for you to secure a cool 3D character that will be your face and representative in the metaverse be it a T-rex or one of the characters from the Mekaverse, you better start working to secure one or minting a new unique one before all of them get bought as NFT’s and you would have to buy them back at much higher prices.

Now, is 3D modeling easy? Hell no!

If you don’t trust me, just take a look at blender tutorials on youtube and you will understand just how hard this domain is. But you can hire a 3D modeler from Fiverr, Upwork, or any of the freelance platforms and get a 3D model and mint it into an NFT.

(OR)

Use Photogrammetry like me to make an exact 3D model copy of you, mint it in the blockchain, and throw it into the metaverse.

No matter whichever way you go, remember to embrace the change because it’s coming if you like it or not and just have fun.

(OR)

On the off-chance that you are a 3D modeler, well…. just let loose your creativity for your own 3D character.

Besides, with the Bitclout strategy model, you are now armed with the knowledge that can bust open many wallets.
