Why?

I thought about writing for years and wrote nothing. Then I began to write unfinished segments and inner dialogues — like a tv show, on the current events of my day-to-day life as a Filipinx-American ‘Finding Her Identity’. And yet I was still writing only on occasion. If I’m honest with myself, I was writing AROUND my vulnerabilities, avoiding the deeper emotions, consciousnesses and the truest story lurking within –

Around this time I was reading books like, “Brown Skin White Minds” shout out to Kuya EJ, reading articles on Cultural Wealth, on Philippine History, and books on how to improve storytelling techniques. You take this knowledge, inspiration, and motivation from these resources- then you sit your ass down in the chair and you very well ask, “So what?” More to the point, “What am I supposed to do with this?”

So here I am, taking ‘next steps’ — trying to write (create), trying to commit.

Like everything in life, it’s a balancing act. This is a way for me to reflect, as a way for me to breathe deeper, to live fuller, this is a way to understand my Kapwa, as a way for growth and moving forward — while still holding on to my sense of childlike wonder for this world, and all that I continue to discover on my journey. I am on a path of becoming more in tune with ME, trusting the people I love, creating intention with my words and actions instead of passively experiencing this world.

Writing, and choosing to create is an action of transformation — a courageous act of presence. As they say, where attention (creating) goes, energy flows, and results show (reality).

With all that said, this post is a Celebration and an invitation to Collaborate, Connect, to Co-. because NGAYON ANG PANAHON! ❤

Tagalog words of the Day:

Panahon — time

Ngayon ang panahon (Now is the time)
