This month, TikTok announced new partnerships with online video platforms to enable editing and publishing videos from Chrome browser. Now, instead of needing to transfer files from your editor to your phone to publish on TikTok, you can publish videos directly from your video editor instead.

We recently partnered with TikTok to simplify TikTok creation for people who prefer the precision of their computer or Chromebook when editing videos. In this article, I’ll explain how to post a TikTok from a computer using a free online video platform called Kapwing.

Step 1: Upload Video to Kapwing

Get started by heading to Kapwing.com, a free tool for hosting and editing videos, images and GIFs. Click “Start Editing” and upload your video. Make sure that the video is vertical (9:16) aspect ratio for TikTok.

If you’ve already finished your video and don’ need to make any tweaks, skip ahead to step 2.

For creators who want to make their video in Kapwing directly, use Kapwing’s free Video Editor to craft your TikTok: make edits, combine videos together, add text and subtitles, and create a custom TikTok sound. In my example, I made a photo slideshow.

Step 2: Export

Once the video preview looks right, click the “Export” button to get the final MP4 version of your video. Kapwing will process the MP4 in the cloud and host the video online for you to come back to later.

Step 3: Share to TikTok

Once your Kapwing video is done processing, you can download or share the video. Note that if your video has a Kapwing watermark, you can remove the watermark for free by signing in with a Google or Facebook account.

Find the TikTok icon under the “SHARE” section.

You’ll need to sign in to your TikTok account to authorize the direct publishing. Give Kapwing permission to publish to TikTok on your behalf by clicking the red “Authorize” button.

Step 4: Open TikTok App to Finalize Video

After you see the confirmation message from Kapwing, go to your phone and open the TikTok app. You’ll see a notification in your TikTok inbox that you have a video draft ready to publish.

Open the draft to finalize the video and choose a cover. Then, save to publish the video to your profile on TikTok!

Thanks for reading! This TikTok integration is just one of several partnerships we’ve worked on to simplify the editing and publishing workflow for creators. Let us know what other ideas you have for cloud-based video creation in the comments below.
