How to resize videos for IGTV

If you have a landscape video that you want to post on IGTV, you can add padding above and below the video to post it without cropping out content. In this post, I’ll describe how to resize videos for IGTV using a free, online tool.

Step 1: Upload video

On your phone or computer, go to Kapwing’s Resize video tool. You can upload your video from your phone or computer or paste a link to a video that already exists on the web. With the paste a link feature, you can post videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or Giphy on IGTV.

Kapwing is online, so you should be able to access it from any device.

Step 2: Size your video

Kapwing’s resizer adds padding (either white or black) above and below your video to fit it for IGTV’s 9:16 aspect ratio. You can also crop your video to a vertical size, if you prefer, and trim the video if you want to cut out a highlight for IGTV.

Once you’re happy with the video preview, click “Create” to process the video.

Step 3: Download and post

After your video is processed, you can download the mp4 and post it to IGTV! Just save the video to your camera roll, open the IGTV app, and post the video to your channel.

There’s a small Kapwing watermark in the bottom corner that you can pay to remove (or subscribe to have unlimited access to Kapwing without watermarks).
