For the next quarter (Q3 2019), KardiaChain’s primary focus is to conduct numerous tests and experiments to foster the launch of KardiaChain mainnet 1.0 later this year. Our ultimate goal is to bring millions of users worldwide onto the KardiaChain platform by utilizing the interoperability capabilities of our network to its full potential.

There will be only a few blockchain networks co-existing after mass adoption takes place, each will serve different purposes and each of them will hegemonize certain geographical regions. KardiaChain will serve as a bridge between these blockchains to create an interconnected world. Our unique non-invasive cross-chain technology will allow assets and data to be transferred freely. Thus, the user experience will be maximised and blockchain technology will be applied in all aspects of our everyday life.

“All great things have small beginnings” — Peter Senge

KardiaChain public testnet “Archi” is the beginning of a great adventure. We are on a mission against all odds to bring blockchain technology to the masses and to establish blockchain as a core foundation. That is why we named our testnet “Archi” meaning “The Beginning” in Greek, as the start of many great things to come. We would be delighted for you to join us on this journey.

KardiaChain testnet “Archi” is a remarkable milestone that will provide the environment and resources for us to improve the efficiency and performance of the KardiaChain network. The testnet will also allow us to fix bugs, secure vulnerable spots, but most importantly, allow future users and partners to experience our unique non-invasive cross-chain technology.

I. Roadmap of our testnet:

1. KardiaChain Testnet Archi

  • KardiaChain Explorer
  • KardiaChain Wallet
  • KardiaChain Decentralized Cross-chain Exchange (DEX)

2. KardiaChain Testnet Archi 2.0

  • Improved Security and Performance

Today marks the inception of a series introducing KardiaChain’s innovative and breakthrough technology along with several major events to incentivize the public to access and test the KardiaChain testnet. With this article, we will deep dive into the KardiaChain consensus algorithm and the security behind the double layer consensus

II. Network Structure:

KardiaChain network consists of two types of nodes:

  • The Standard node participates in the KardiaChain main consensus.
  • The Dual node handles cross-chain activities.

The KardiaChain unique technology for cross-chain activities is called the “Dual Node” which is able to simultaneously access the ledger data of KardiaChain and a blockchain of choice.

  • A Dual Node assigned in each Dual Node group assists the activities on chosen external blockchains.
  • A Standard node participates on the main network consensus to handle activities on KardiaChain main network.

Testnet Archi consists of

  1. Three Dual Node groups are responsible for interchain communication. These groups currently interconnect KardiaChain and Ethereum, Tron, NEO.

Each Dual Node group consists of:

  • 4 Dual Nodes
  • Out of these 4 Dual Nodes, 3 nodes are validators

2. Multiple standard nodes and 7 validators which in turn propose, validate and secure the network.

III. Consensus Algorithm:

KardiaChain optimizes the BFT dPoS consensus algorithm to tackle scalability issues and achieve optimal levels of decentralization and security as well as facilitating interchain communication.

The first part of the consensus is BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerant). Byzantine General’s problem refers to a situation of indecisiveness between Byzantine Generals who faced a logical dilemma when trying to reach a mutual agreement for their next course of action.

Byzantine Fault Tolerant represents an algorithmic approach of how consensus can still be reached (or all of the nodes can decide upon the same action plan) even with some malicious activities from a number of participating members, in other words, a small number of nodes who cooperate to tamper the network could not cause the network to commit to a wrong decision.

In a consensus with BFT property, a proposed block will have to be approved by (2/3*n) + 1 validators, with n is the total number of validators, in order to be included in the network.

KardiaChain consensus algorithm is the combination of BFT and dPoS or Delegated Proof of Stake which allows a standard node to stake KAI (KardiaChain native token) to become a validator of the main network with the option to become a dual node. dPoS provides enormous decentralization to the network, where the user has the option to delegate their stake to a validator who has a high reputation in securing the network. This incentivizes smaller players to contribute to the overall performance, especially the security level of the network.

The BFT dPoS is applied both to and between the dual nodes that verify external chain transactions and main network nodes to ensure the security and decentralization of both interchain and main network activities.

IV. Dual Node Unique Structure:

We like to compare the Dual Node structure to a human body, the main components of the Dual Nodes when handling cross-chain transactions are

1. The Heart that pumps transactions

  • A smart contract development toolkit for developers with any experience level.
  • A KVM (Kardia Virtual Machine) to handle cross-chain functionalities and logic.
  • A knowledge pool accumulating statistics from the external blockchains that KardiaChain is connected with.
  • A Master Wallet as a one-stop shop for your interchain transactions.

2. The Arteries that ensure the flow and execution of cross-chain transactions

  • A translator to translate a provided smart contract on the main network to a comprehensive KardiaChain bytecode which includes smart contracts for the involved blockchains.
  • A powerful tool (KSML) assisting with the process of deploying smart contracts across multiple blockchains.
  • A router (CMNR) to route transactions to destination blockchains ensuring the best performance is achieved by taking into account the transaction time, costs, etc.

3. The Veins that handle updates from external chains to sync with the ledger of the main network, it consists of the Ingestor, Aggregator and Group Pool & Group Ledger
