What’s with the saying? Is it because it sounds similar to George R.R. Martin’s words, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies?” I didn’t know this until I searched Google to confirm if there was a quote, but there isn’t. Does a moment cut in different directions or have different interpretations? Do our lives transcend through the moments we experience? Is looking back ever worth it? My answer screams YES with every fragment of my being, and I have tried to capture the times you experience this below. Do enjoy!

Pictures…

They are written on our walls, colored in our hearts, and carried everywhere we go, even through generations. If happiness were tangible, it could not be any better than a picture showing an event or moment in time. We might not fully express our feelings in those moments, but as someone forgetful, I will most definitely cherish the sight in my hands to aid my recollection. Sealing in our minds the places where the pictures were captured, which could bring back good or bad moments, never really matters, but just the fact that we have evidence of what it was is all that there is. A picture exhibits a thousand words as well as a thousand thoughts (if anyone is counting). They can’t make up for the past or the need for the real thing, but they keep the memory alive occasionally.

Conversations…

These are times or moments when adrenaline and enthusiasm are heavily displayed by both parties, enjoying their companies, locking out the outside world for a time or moment, and leaving everything aside just to be with each other. It is a feeling of mutual respect, understanding, and love for each other, and a capture of such a time will be unimaginable. Plus, if it happens in a particular location, it will help in increasing sync. I’m not the best at this and need to be continuously engaged because my mind has a mind of its own and doesn’t want to talk, but have you ever been alone and recalled a conversation and laughed out loud like you’re unwell? Yea, that's what pure conversations give.

Silence…

Due to my personality type, I enjoy silence and bask in it. the ability to read the room, eye contact, and slight giggles because they can telepathically understand each other. I know there are those like me out there who are comfortable and thrive in it. Most times, words do too much when silence gives a whole new level of meaning. It’s like therapy on its own. Do you enjoy silence? Think about it for a second, and if not, it’s fine as well.

Music…

This presents the best and most vivid recollection tool ever created. Listening to music and remembering scenes or memories suppressed from trauma or out of regret. Words and rhythmic sounds bring back love, pain, and time. We want to relive the past and open the doors to our cells to roam free, even for just a moment. You just want to shout, scream, or cry through the remembrance of good times as the words hit the right spots. Sometimes, music might be the only communication tool to get to the other side and can be appreciated more.

Moments are eternal. They serve as a reminder of our humanity or the existence of what was. The mixture of raw emotions and feelings that light up makes us human and is the point of our existence, which is shared with others and not lived by ourselves. Living doesn’t sometimes mean you’re alive, but the recall of a moment or engagement in activities that draw us to others will most definitely help with being alive.

Create those moments, live your truth, and let your memories be the light on your path and fill the void in your mansion.

Just trying to make sense of it all.
