The first Meta World: My City tournament organized by NFT KARTEL has come to an end. Sixty-four players from all over the world made their presence felt, and the week-long journey flew by in the blink of an eye thanks to the unpredictable dice.

So, who did the goddess of luck smile on?

🏆️ about the winner and top 4

The tournament was won by [KARTEL]. KARTEL was already a dominant force in the board game rankings, with a #1 overall ranking in Season 2. He proved his dominance throughout the tournament, especially when it came to utilizing legacy cards like Sophie. In the end, he is stealing the show., which is impressive.

The second-place winner, [LittleBro], made it all the way to the finals with a very strategic game plan, utilizing Watson, Nana, and Nicole to get around the map quickly, and it worked. Unfortunately, he was countered by Mirage in the finals and ended up finishing in second place, but he was applauded as a gritty player who kept KARTEL on their toes until the very end.

The third-place winner, [Staz], is a well-known player who is a top-ranked player in many P2E games. He faced off against KARTEL in the semi-finals and put on an overwhelming display of force, utilizing two Legendary character cards, that left viewers in awe. Unfortunately, the dice weren’t on his side at the crucial moment, and meet his waterloo.

The fourth place winner was [R1CKM4N]. It’s safe to say that he was the most popular player on the livestream. The reason for this is that his deck was somewhat unique: while the other players focused on Epic character cards, R1CKM4N built his deck around rares and managed to get to fourth place. We’re guessing that the Goddess of Luck may have been with him.

🏅 Behind the scenes of the competition

Before the first Meta World: My City tournament, KARTEL had a lot on their minds, the biggest being the spec gap between players, and how to make the tournament accessible to non-top players.

We introduced cost limits: 64 rounds on PRO1 maps, 32 rounds on PRO2 maps, 16 rounds on EXPERT1 maps, and 8 rounds on EXPERT2 maps. We also wanted to honor those who had invested in the game by unlocking cost limits as they progressed to higher tournaments.

The tournaments are also a mix of single-elimination and group stages, rather than just single-elimination, because we were concerned that going single-elimination would result in players being disadvantaged too easily.

With 64 players in the tournament, we decided it would be better to coordinate the time of the tournament with each other. Fortunately, the tournament went off without a hitch, and we were able to feel the good vibes of Web3 gamers for the rest of the week as players peacefully coordinated their appointments.

The third-place finisher, Staz, had this to say about the tournament: “Tournament is very smooth. You and your opponent decide the time of your match. Great admins/organizers.” He was very supportive. The community’s support was one of the most encouraging things for the guild.

💰 About prizes and giveaways

The first Meta World: My City tournament, organized by NFT KARTEL, had a total prize pool of $4000, with the prizes listed above.

We hope that most of the players who participated in the tournament enjoyed Meta World: My City and are interested in the MARBLEX ecosystem, so we’re happy with our prize selection.

The prizes will be distributed on July 26th, and winners should check the Discord announcement on NFT KARTEL and submit the Google Form as soon as possible.

And with that, the first Meta World: My City tournament is over. We call it the “first” because we don’t want these tournaments to be a one-off. In the future, we’ll have more generous prizes and more players.

Web3 gaming is facing difficult times. The player pool continues to shrink. But this tournament had a great turnout of 64 players, and as someone who runs a Web3 gaming guild, it was a great opportunity to reaffirm the strength of the Web3 gaming community and the potential of a well-made game like Meta World: My City.

Once again, we would like to thank all the players who participated in the competition and MARBLEX.
