With the ever increasing popularity of people using the internet to make purchases and find information, more businesses are looking to start a website. With businesses such as Wix, Weebly, Wordpress, Blogspot, etc. more people have the ability to create their own sites. The problem however is that these same people call themselves “web designers” whether they understand all aspects of the design and development process or not. As a result, we have too many mediocre sites that have not been thought out, promoted well, etc. This creates frustration on both sides of the business, because it makes things difficult for users to find and limits on constrains the business from achieving its goals and driving traffic to their site. Not only do they not achieve their goals however, they also waste the money they could’ve paid someone to make their website correctly, just to have it redone. There are many characteristics that may vary from project to project, but the list below are the five characteristics that should be the basis for person or business when choosing a web designer.
