How to use the storyboard to define a target user in a simple way.
Define a target user, this is closely linked to the service or product you are offering or want to offer.
Example: if your business is to sell building materials, it would not be the same users as if you were selling textiles and fabrics.
Therefore, analyze your product or service, think in the first place for who is it is designed, who are the potential users. You can perform an exercise to create user profiles where you use the data you already have such as: age, gender, socioeconomic profile, most common purchase amount, etc. If you do not have this information you can still rely on a Benchmark analysis of companies that operate in the same area as you.
As a next step, create fictitious user profiles, something like creating a character for a story or a movie, name it, age, gender, occupation, socio-economic profile, marital status, etc. It integrates all the data that you imagine and that form a physical, psychological and social profile of a human being.
Make your story board as an ordinary day in the life of your character, always focus the story on an event that has to do with your product or service and the most attached to the behavior of the user profile you have created, you can develop the story sequence as any story (beginning, problem or situation, knot and outcome) but always getting as close as possible to contexts and real situations that involve your product or service, you can do it as long or short as you want, the more extensive it’s easier understand your user, how he develops his daily life, what problems or situations are faced by which is why he seeks your services or products.
That way it will be easier for you to understand your consumers or customers in a better way, what they are looking for and expect from you and that is what motivates them to make their purchases, this little exercise will help you to detect them in an easy and entertaining way, as well is a good way to understand the behavior of your customers, it will serve you when you have to design your advertising and marketing strategies since you will have a better view of who you are targeting, is an excellent tool at the moment of making improvements or updates in the product or service and to study the interaction of the user with them.
