And our survey said…
We love hearing feedback about the Keele University website - we really do!
As well as helping to shape future site developments, feedback about content and structures is important to us as it help us improve our user’s experience. We are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their views since go live.
Last week we ran an opt-in website survey that loaded once a user scrolled 50% of the way down a page (so it wasn’t too intrusive). We had a fairly good sample size, and are happy to share the results with you here. We found that prospective undergraduate students are the most satisfied with the website. Here is a summary of what we found:
- 97% of respondents who are interested in applying to the University as an undergraduate, or have already applied, found the site easy or very easy to navigate, and found or partly found the information they were looking for. All prospective undergraduate student respondents found the site’s content useful, and thought the site was good or very good overall.
- 90% of respondents who are interested in applying to the University as a postgraduate, or have already applied, found the site’s content useful and thought that the site was good or very good overall. 70% of this group found the site easy or very easy to navigate, so there’s work to be done here around our postgraduate course content and related information — and this is already underway.
- When it came to current students, the sample size was lower. However, the results are still worth exploring. 89% found the site easy or very easy to navigate, 95% rated the site design as good or very good, and 98% found what they were looking for.
The message we take from this is that the site is meeting the needs of the main target audiences, and is working the way a first-time visitor needs it to work. We do however need to improve the experience of prospective PG students. As it to be expected, it is a little less positive for those who use the site more often, however it is not intended to be an intranet for staff and current students — plans to tackle this are in the pipeline too.
