With our campus TV studio out of action for the time being, we wanted to find a new way to share Keele academics’ expert opinions with our social media audiences — and so, introducing our new ‘The Knowledge’ Facebook Live Q&As series 🎉

The aim of the series is to entertain, educate, and inspire our current social media audiences (including students, staff, and applicants) who have been stuck at home during the lockdown.

The chats have been hosted by our Digital Officer Tom from his home ‘studio’, and have ranged from discussions about the global response to Covid-19, the threat to trust in medical services, to the psychology of swearing.

To stream the live chats, Tom hosts a Google Hangout video call with colleagues and then works the magic at his end using OBS studio to share live to Facebook.

We have hosted six Q&As so far, with average views of 3,500.

Each Facebook Live is promoted beforehand on Facebook and Twitter, and people can set a reminder for the live event on Facebook. Afterwards, the videos remain on Facebook and are also uploaded to YouTube and reshared on Twitter.

If any colleagues are interested in appearing in a future Q&A, please get in touch!
