Keen IO is a systems company with 3500+ global customers, headquartered in San Francisco. We’ve raised $30M from investors including Sequoia Capital, Pelion, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Our technology is a cloud-based data platform that lets businesses collect, enrich, stream, analyze, and act on historical events at a truly massive scale — all via API (think: Twilio for event data).

An “event” is a pretty broad abstraction, so let’s unpack that a bit: Every time someone loads a webpage, clicks an ad, draws a breath, takes a step, pauses a song, updates a database, visits a retail location, or starts the engine in their car, there’s an event. Omnichannel events like these, in large aggregate, are extremely useful for scientific inquiry. And if your business isn’t good at scientific inquiry, it is likely to be replaced by ones that are.

However, gathering and studying these sorts of custom events at scale requires the right tools, and before Keen IO, required a deeply specialized (and expensive) data engineering team. We envision a world in which any generalist software developer can wield event data powerfully well, without such a specialized background, and without having to maintain & scale the infrastructure.

We help businesses crunch trillions of such events, every single day, across all industry verticals, across all technology platforms, and in every business department in the enterprise. We gather data from smart devices, browsers, industrial equipment, and servers all over planet Earth, and we also have implementations in outer space.

Our non-prescriptive approach has given our business a diverse & robust base of earning power that is growing both rapidly and durably.

From Fortune 500 customers to independent software vendors, and everything in-between, we see the demand accelerating for programmatically-defined, scientifically rigorous data practice — and we don’t expect it will ever stop doing so.
