It’s the 3-Year Anniversary of My Body Calling for Breasts and Wondering If I Should Graduate From Masculinity

--

On Jan. 3, 2022, my body called for breasts. Wild as that was, it was a good thing — I have a penchant for not realizing things on my own. (I am a woman assigned male at birth. And possibly a dumb brunette.) I also wondered if I should graduate from masculinity.

I was driving back from a trip to Los Angeles. (The event that got me there was Utah Utes football being in the 2022 Rose Bowl Game.) I got a most overwhelming feeling from my body that my chest was void space.

Considering that, and upon thinking about it, I’m not surprised that two of the most profound moments of my life were two of the first three showers I took after breast surgery. The surgery took place Oct. 5, 2023 at Southern California Hospital at Hollywood. (Meaning that one shower took place on Halloween and the other on Thanksgiving. ;) )

The hospital got the implant size wrong, resulting in me having really large breasts. Still, I pleaded with Dr. Alexander Sinclair to perform the procedure given that my body had needed them for 21 months to that point.
