What Is A Lover?
- A partner-in-crime (to call in sick and be a bum with on a Monday).
- A human pillow, always warm.
- Extra fingers to scratch your back.
- Silly fights picked for the makeup sex.
- “I’m high on you.”
- A tolerable annoyance.
- You woke up at 3:27 am for this.
- The thick skin you could never have grown.
- A rock. Your rock.
- The only (remotely) exciting thing about your daily routine.
- A valid excuse to come out of your shell.
- The person you traded the shell for, permanently.
- Hope for permanent joys in the face of temporary happiness.
- Your parents will finally stop thinking you’ll die alone.
- Inside jokes and inexplicable laughter.
- The one (and only).
- An indulgent reality check.
- Surprises you actually want.
- Your person.
- Tolerance in transition (to accommodation).
- “I hate you.” Then a kiss. And another.
- Even if everyone else can’t be bothered, this one will always care.
- “You’re not fat, you’re beautiful. But I’ll work out with you if you want to.”
- A reminder to remember reminders.
- Morning breath.
- A long hug after a long day. Or after a short day, it doesn’t matter.
- The strength and the weakness.
- A regular pick-me-up.
- The closest you’ll ever come to owning a human being.
- The rest of your life, hopefully.
