Twas’ the day before Christmas, and all through Odhran’s apartment, not a creature could be heard through all of the sobs. Through his tears he said “How could I lose to John’s team the week after I beat Rob’s!?” He looked over his rosters and shouted to the moon, “HOW COULD I LOSE BOTH FANTASY CHAMPIONSHIPS!? GODDAMN YOU MIKE BOONE!”

Championship Re-caps:

Dictator League:

Dormansmash v. Odhran

  • In what is being called “the most important league championship everyone forgot about” Mark took home the crown and the rights to declare the rules for next year. If you remember, after the slow draft Mark engaged in what FX’s “The League” described as “rosterbating” exclaiming how much he loved his team all over the group chat. Like Babe Ruth, he called his shot and hit an absolute monster over the center field wall. His team went 11–2, the best record across all three leagues. He took home the championship over Odhran, whose devotion to Kyler Murray knows no bounds. Odhran had a solid Cinderella run as an underdog, but his team fell just short of completing the impossible. I will hand the keys over to Mark in the offseason and announce the rule changes he wants to make in this re-cap some time before the next season starts.

Dynasty League:

Born For This v. Team Tautkus

  • Surprise, surprise, Joey does it again. What actually was a surprise was an almost 100 point differential between two teams competing for a championship. Saquon was a frustrating player for Joey this year but he came through when it mattered most. Joey’s team had enough firepower to win despite dismal weeks from his Quarterbacks. Not even a full day later, his team is already beginning its preparations for next season by trading away a chunk of his roster for picks. This team was built through trades, owning almost no one from the original start-up draft. And while many teams have made significant improvements to their rosters, this blowout championship is a reminder that Born for This is always a step ahead.

Keeper League:

Darren McFadden v. Loser City

  • If you want to win a fantasy championship, a good place to start is by adding Breshad Perriman, who made an appearance on all three championship-winning teams. If you want to make it to the fantasy championship, a good place to start is by having Christian McCaffrey. John had both guys and that made all the difference. John’s first league championship came as the culmination of a dominant playoff run in which he outscored his opponents by an average of 25.3 points. I’ve made several requests for John to change his team name throughout the years but I have a feeling that after this, the Champ won’t be changing that any time soon.
