What a weird week. In week 5 we were all left in awe of the plethora of points our teams put up. That week consisted of 11 players scoring over 30 points and almost all of them were drafted in the fifth round or higher. This week only 5 players scored more than 30 points and four of them went undrafted. The top score in our dynasty league this week was 66.3 points lower this week than the top score in week 6. If there was ever a time to eke out an upset, it was this week.

Games of the Week

Dictator League

Dormansmash v. Odhran

  • This is an impressive victory. No Godwin, no McCaffrey, no problem. Dorman took care of business against Odhran, who held out hope for a Sanu trade one week too early. I’m beginning to get suspicious of the 6–1 Dormansmash team though since they did mention they purchased “cookies” (Sleeper’s form of in-app currency). I’m beginning to think (i.e., beginning to start a conspiracy theory) that he might have bribed the Sleeper app and the system is compromised. Oh well, still better than ESPN.

Dynasty League

Team Tautkus v. Big Bold Burly Babies

  • If you think Matt changed his name to Big Bold Burly Babies just so I had to type it out…you are probably right. Unfortunately, the quadruple B’s couldn’t survive a CMC bye week against a team led by amazing fantasy players like Marvin Jones and Jacoby Brissett. What can I say Matt, you should have started Andy Dalton and Jake Kumerow (what a week).

Trader Joey v. My Team has CTE

  • Dorman was feeling a little woozy after this beatdown (concussion joke!). Trader Joey’s wide receivers finally came through and put together more than enough points to get a win. Even Allen Robinson came through, who has been hamstrung by a QB who is quickly becoming the face of potentially the worst draft miss of all time. (Reluctant shout out to Mark for beating Joey’s dynasty team that I honestly would have bet would go undefeated).

Triva

  • This QB has the highest passer rating in the red zone this season.

Shameless Take of the Week

The “people who have caught an NFL pass for a touchdown” group is an extremely rare and difficult group to be included in. For people in that group, however, it is actually not that uncommon to have caught a touchdown pass from Tom Brady. That’s because he’s thrown touchdowns to 75 different people, the best (i.e., my favorite) record in the NFL.

It’s the best (my favorite) record because it is equal parts impressive and meaningless. On the one hand, touchdown passes to 75 different receivers is an incredible accomplishment that speaks to Brady’s ability to elevate the players around him. On the other hand, it doesn’t really mean all that much and will probably fade from our collective memory pretty soon after he retires.

But here’s the thing…he has a lot more opportunities to expand the record this season. Below is a list of players likely to catch their first touchdown pass from Tom Brady:

  • Sony Michel
  • Mohammed Sanu
  • Jakobi Meyers
  • Gunner Oldorchester
  • Matt LaCosse
  • Damien Harris

That could bring him to 81(!!!) different players who have caught a touchdown pass. Incredible. Meaningless. But incredible.
