Keeper is a multiplatform cryptocurrency wallet that provides users with advanced storage and exchange capabilities for crypto assets. In this series of articles, we will explain in detail the features of the wallet, and how to get started with Keeper on different devices.

How do I install the Keeper browser extension?

Equipping your browser with a portal to the world of Web3 in the form of Keeper Wallet is quite simple. All you need to do is go to your browser’s extension store and download Keeper for free.

For Google Chrome (also suitable for Yandex.Browser and most other Chromium-based browsers)

For Firefox

For Opera

For Microsoft Edge

After this trivial operation, you will be able to find Keeper Wallet in the list of extensions of your browser. We recommend that you add it to the toolbar so that Keeper is always at your fingertips.

Login Screen

Upon launching the extension for the first time, you will be prompted to set a password for quick access to your accounts. Once you come up with a password and click Continue, you will be taken to the Add Account screen. Here you can either create a new account or use an existing one. If you already have a Waves account, you can import it.

The Keeper browser extension supports all kinds of accounts and can log you in:

  • by Seed Phrase or Private Key
  • by Email
  • by the Ledger hardware wallet

If you want to create a new account, a Seed phrase will be generated for it. Write it down and store it in a safe place, as it gives access to your account if you lose it or want to log in on a new device.

Home Screen

After successful authorization, you will be taken to the main screen of Keeper Wallet. At the top, you will see the name of your account and the total value of your assets in U.S. dollars. Under the current account information is the Swap button for quick access to the token exchange screen. At the top right is the settings menu.

You will also find 3 buttons on the right:

  1. Other accounts. You can use it to change an active account or add new accounts.
  2. Copy address. A button to quickly copy your wallet address.
  3. Show QR. Address of your wallet as a QR code.

Below you will see 3 tabs

  • Assets. This is a list of all your tokens and their quantity. When you hover over the 3 dots to the right of each token, a menu pops up where you can view information about the token, send it to another wallet, or exchange it. You can also add a token to your favorites so that it is higher in the list.
  • NFTs. Here you can view your NFT collection as well as send them to another account.
  • History. This is where all of your transactions are stored. You can sort them by a number of filters, or use the search bar.

Swap Screen

In the token swap screen, you can exchange any pair of tokens of your choice. In the upper field, you must specify the token you want to exchange and its quantity. In the bottom field, select the token you want to receive.

Below you will see the different options for executing the transaction. These are the different exchange routes performed by the Waves blockchain aggregators: Keeper, Puzzle and Swopfi. Generally, the Keeper aggregator chooses the best route for the exchange and you get more value, but no you are free to explore other options as well.

How Does the Keeper Extension work?

Once installed in your browser, Keeper Wallet will automatically activate when you interact with Waves-based sites and dApps. Whether connecting to a site or confirming a transaction, all processes will go through the browser extension, allowing you full control over your transactions and eliminating loss of funds from fraud.

Keeper stores private keys encrypted locally, on the device where it is installed, so that third-party services have no way of accessing them and compromising the security of your funds.

The extension acts as a buffer that provides an extra layer of protection. Nothing can happen without your knowledge and confirmation, and if the service you interact with is suspicious, Keeper will definitely let you know. Thus, by adding Keeper Wallet, you significantly improve your user experience with cryptocurrencies, eliminating anxiety and uncertainty.
