A Beautiful Island
Jawaharlal Nehru said, “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventure we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” This makes me think of an amazing trip to my country Dominican Republic, where I spent good moments with my mom. The place that I visited was Saona Island, which is located in the south of Dominican Republic and is one of the most visited tourist places. Also, it is part of the East National Park. That was my first time going to a new place in my country only with my mom. I was working hard to save money and invited my mom to go with me. It was one of the most beautiful trips that I ever had. I will always keep those moments in my heart.
First of all, in 2015 I decided to go to my country and spend a vacation of two weeks with my mother. The funny thing was that I bought my ticket to go there and my two sisters came here to the U.S to spend time with my father. I was so lucky that I was going to have my mother only with me to enjoy and have a good time. When I got there, my mother went to the airport to pick me up, she was so happy. We had gone four years without seeing each other. I could not explain how I felt when I saw my mother in the airport waiting for me. We felt so happy, and we cried because that was a very emotional moment for us.
I bought the tickets to go to the Saona Island in a travel agency, which my cousin and husband are owner. I decided to buy the tickets with them because they showed me the place in photos. We talked about how amazing the trip to that place was going to be. when the most awaited day arrived, my mother and I. Were very excited. The most important thing for us was enjoying the trip. In that trip more, people were included. My mom and I were supposed to meet everybody. who was coming on the trip with us. We went in a very fancy bus with very good facilities. For example, they were going to have food inside the bus, drinks and an amazingly good “crazy hour”. In this hour, the coordinators used to animate everybody in the bus. For example, they used funny stuff like wigs color and funny clothes, to make the passengers laugh and have a good moment until we arrived at the island.
When we arrived there, we felt the pure nature in our bodies, and how amazing it is for god to create a very beautiful place for us. Once we arrived at the island, we were ready to enjoy the beach and the very delicious food that they had in the menu. My mother and I went on the beach. I remember that everybody looked very happy, enjoying the beautiful island. I also remember that it was my first time that I saw a starfish. It was very beautiful, orange with yellow, and it was not too big. Everybody wanted to take pictures with it. I also enjoyed getting on a boat for the first time with my mom. It was scary for me at the beginning, then my nerves calmed got down, and I enjoyed it a lot. When we were in the boat, I remember that we saw dolphins that surrounded our boat, which was amazing. Everybody was taking videos of the dolphins, and that was the first time that I saw dolphins face to face.
When we got out of the boats, we took a break of a few minutes, and we went to eat. I remember that on the menu they had very good seafood, also my mom and I really love seafood. We really enjoyed that food and the trip in the boat. When we finished eating, we went to
another boat called, “Sailboat”. Oh, my god I remember it was amazing. I remember the ocean was very beautiful that day. We could feel the smell of the sea, felt how the boat moved with each wave, and breath the pure air of nature. We took around one hour on the sea in this boat. Everybody was dancing there with the boat moving, and drinking, laughing. I also remember that it used to move very slowly because it was so big, and held around 50 people. When the time to leave arrived, I did not want to go home. I just wanted to stay there for a while. I could say that I really enjoyed that trip. I took many photos with my mom, and at the beautiful things that I saw there, like the dolphins, the food, palms, beaches, etc.
In conclusion, it was an amazing trip, during which I really enjoyed good moments with my mother, memories that I am not going to ever forget because this island reminds me of my country, and where I came from. Try always to enjoy life with your family and friends, do not miss the experience of living new adventures, and know more about the world that God created for us.
