what is love? Without a doubt, it is the purest and most unique feeling that can exist, two people are not loved in the same way, it is not the same to love God as your parents, the love that you have for your brothers is not the same what do you have for your cousins etc. In the movie my sisters keeper, we can observe the purest and most committed love that can exist, this movie is about a girl who has cancer from an early age, and her parents decide to create another daughter with specific genetic information, guaranteeing that this new daughter they could get a cure or a safe donor for their sick daughter. It is there where I say that love is a crazy thing, how do you decide to create a life to save another?
This movie despite being one of the saddest I’ve seen so far, has also been one of the best. It makes me think about how it should be to love a child, what it should be like to have a sick child and the fear of losing it due to a disease like cancer, how desperately you create another life in order to sustain another, and how we forget that the Life purpose is different for everyone. These parents create a donor daughter in order to keep their sick daughter alive, but they forget that they would somehow hurt their “donor” daughter, it would be something like relieving a sick person causing illness to a relieved one. In the course of the movie we can see that each of the characters, including the “donor” daughter loves the way they help the sick girl, the whole family revolves around saving her life, the mother is dedicated to her sick daughter , her brothers are loving and understanding with the girl, her younger sister (donor) does not care about the pain caused to her body in order to keep her sister alive.
when we love a person we cling to it, we do not want anything to happen to it, we want them to be happy, that they lack nothing, but sadly we are also selfish, just for loving them we believe that we are doing our best, but very rarely we stop to ask if these people are really happy. This is what happened with this girl’s mother, she was dedicated to having her daughter alive, she wanted to solve everything so that her daughter could improve, but she never asked her daughter if she was happy with her life, and it turns out that her daughter already wanted to die, she was tired of all the medical processes, she didn’t want them to hurt her younger sister anymore, she wanted her brother to have some attention, and she also wanted her father to regain her mother’s love. She wanted to die to bring her family to life. For this reason she decided to ask her sister to appeal with the medical emancipation of her body, so that in this way they do not force her to donate more organs, although her little sister loved to help her, she did that immense favor, and fought for her emancipation.
Then the day came, where the girl tells her mother that she is ready to leave, she thanked her mother for her dedication, her effort, for living for her, but she already wanted to rest and was not afraid to do so, and that day The girl died in the company of her mother.
In conclusion this movie made me cry like crazy, it made me think that love is pure, good, selfless, it is commitment, it is dedication, that our happiness is not necessarily the happiness of others, that love is also letting go, that is goodbye , that there is something much more superior to our will that is called God, and that despite our efforts God’s plans are what really count, and above all it made me think about the love of a mother, that is what I really know Call pure, transparent love, that when you have children, life is no longer about you if not about your children, their well-being, their happiness, it is as if they gave it to you instead of giving life. That is why every time I have to choose a movie, I choose it again and again, because it is about love.
