Artificial intelligence creativity and happiness.

We live in a world where we want things to be fast, and to live an easy life with little hardships. As humans we love to learn new things and to get better at things quickly, and that is why and how we have evolved so much. So far there have been 4 industrial revolutions, and currently we are in our 4th revolution where we live in a digital connected world and use artificial intelligence (AI), big data, robotics, and more to come. Examples of such a machine are like the teachable machines. If we desire it to detect the hand signs of rock, paper, scissors recognition machines we can train it and then it could detect which signs were held up to the screen. These sets of data consisted of different angles, different background distractions, and just simply different combinations of data sets that all had one of the hand signs shown up on the screen. All these data sets are used for the machines to learn and study each of the photos, so that it learns to detect the signs correctly. Humans have been able to create machines that now we can teach it to do what we desire it to do. Essentially allows us to achieve our desires to live easier and happier.
With Artificial intelligence (AI) the creativity it can generate is mindblowing. AI uses a technique to create new ideas in three methods which are using familiar ideas, exploring those potential conceptual spaces, and transforming it to generate a complete original new piece of artwork. People are questioning if AI creativity will bring more imitations or innovations. I believe that yes, it has the function to imitate works, however, that is only if you allow it to do just that. On the other hand we can also allow it to help us innovate, innovate in a way that makes this world a better place to live, and also a more exciting world!
We live in a time where AI can now imagine and create an endless amount of different forms of art, so this could be in the music industry, fashion design, graphic design, architecture, and photography… As an artist you are wanting a balance of accidents and control in your artwork, because that is what makes it interesting and brings a special element to it. You want those interesting accidents. For example artists can use such AI devices like the Runway ML/GANs to train a custom of image generators, in which the model synthesizes countless images and videos. With published pre-trained machine learning models at disposal for anyone to use it can generate really photorealistic images. They also can generate really abstract art if you start combining various things together. What it really does is let you decide what kind of data sets you want to synthesize, so working alongside AI opens up another world of creativity. With AI creativity they can show us new art that we never would have ever thought of by ourselves, and after taking that AI creativity with our own creativity together, which would allow us to produce something amazing!
Currently we see that AI can immensely improve the speed and quality of our workplaces and can take over the repetitive/iterative and dangerous tasks, so that frees up the space and time for humans to take up more meaningful and creative work. In society AI will and has changed things and disrupts things, and will probably continue to. However, it does not need to be seen as a downside, but actually a great thing because with the emergence of AI it should be seen as a new collaborator and not a replacer of jobs. There will be more advanced and new jobs out there for people to be and do more creative jobs. With the help of AI it can stop us from thinking in such a mechanistic way and more creatively. It lets us stop repeating the same things over and over again, so we don’t waste our energy and instead channel it somewhere else that helps us be more creative. The capacity that AI can help humans make new art will make a huge impact on the creative industries. Possibly in the future AI will become its own entity and it will become conscious for itself.
The amazing thing about AI that humans can’t do as well is the interaction with the past, present, and possibly the future. AI can study the past artworks (for example thousands of centuries old paintings) like no human being, and with such great volume and speed. What makes the big gap between AI and humans is the speed at which AI works at. AI can also study famous singer artists in the past who are no longer alive, and with their old songs they can generate an original song with the same style and voice. AI doesn’t just see the future, but it can see the past that no current living humans could, and use all that data to generate a masterpiece. Creativity brings people happiness. It’s as simple as that. Having those creative juices flowing in our heads pumps an adrenaline within us, and the collaboration with AI stimulates us to dive deeper and allow us to explore and expand our creativity.
