Product Milestone - Confidant Encrypted Email Client that protects your email privacy
Another milestone achieved for Confidant! We are delighted to announce that Confidant Encrypted Email Client feature is included in the latest version. Download and start encrypting your emails, IM, files, contact list.
Confidant email client module is newly added in Confidant app that aggregates multiple email accounts across various email services, including Gmail, 163mail, Tencent Enterprise Email, QQ Email and more to come. It supports email with its settings and all data in transmission and storage with high-level encryption between Confidant users.

Confidant Email encryption explanation
Encrypted email transfer is enabled between Confidant users who have their email accounts configured to the one same Confidant Station. All email account configuration settings, email content, and their associated data via Confidant are transmitted and stored with encryption.
If user A has registered email account E1 with Confidant Station N1, as he logs in to Confidant Stations (also known as Circle) N2, N3, N4, his email account is added automatically to his email client hosted by N2, N3. User B can send encrypted emails to from N1, N2 or N3 to A via Confidant. The email can only be decrypted from User A’s Confidant email client.
1. All emails transmitted between Confidant users are encrypted using the AES symmetric-key algorithm.
2. Email backup with encryption on Confidant: The email client module is only integrated into the Confidant app, the Confidant Station stores the encrypted copy of the emails and their configuration settings once the node
3. Email encryption algorithm adopted among Confidant users
- Encrypted with the user’s public/private key pair
- Email account settings including username, password, email server URL, port, etc,
- Encrypted using the AES symmetric encryption algorithm
- Email content, attachment, contact list and Email preheader information including subject, sender, recipient etc,
More email services including those are mainly used for work and daily life communication will be supported in Confidant in the upcoming versions.
