Last month, we shared a proposal for Community Governance. The QLC team made this decision ahead of the QLC Chain TestNet launch to encourage and enable QLC holders and community members to have a deeper engagement with the project for the future healthy growth. We believe that Blockchain projects should be developed and secured by consensus and open-sourced code.

The testnet has launched and we would like to share an update of the voting programme.

For the next round of voting, majority voters will score 3 points and we will deliver gifts according to score ranking when next round concludes. Thank you for your support.

Blockchain governance is about making decisions, which process the community should follow and how to coordinate and decide on which structure norms the project will use. Blockchain governance can be split into two functions, technical and social. The technical governance function is usually made up of operators and developers, QLC Chain has opened the testnet code and inviting developer communities to contribute to issues.

The social governance is made out of people who help coordinate nodes, influence agenda of developers, the community and more. Moreover, there are on-chain and off-chain governance. However, the governance could also shift from off-chain to on-chain over time. For example, Bitcoin and Ethereum use off-chain governance as Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) and Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) are submitted, discussed in weekly online meetings and implemented if agreed upon. Dash, is an example of an on-chain governance. Their governance is made of masternodes, whose operators can vote on budget proposals.

QLC is dedicated to building a participatory community for the health of the whole ecosystem. The project is not in its nascent phase anymore. The testnet has been launched with Multidimensional Block Lattice Structure, WinQ has handed over to the community which we are proud how engaging and supportive they have been. Furthermore, our developer community introduced a new product Pretty Private Router and Pretty Private Messenger. They will gradually seek community contribution as well.

The proposal we shared is a combination of the industry’s current best-practices. We believe that it is important to implement this early in the project so the community can take part in deciding the future of the project. Starting from last month, we have asked community members to share their proposals on our subreddit thread r/QLCchain. The proposals that received the most amount of up votes will move to the next round of voting on Telegram. So far, four rounds of voting have been completed and we appreciated all the participants. Going forward, we will continue this process until we’ve built the community governance into the QLC wallet.

The QLC team is conscious of keeping in mind the bigger picture. As the QLC ecosystem grows, we will adapt to the changes as adjust the protocols in place. No one in the blockchain industry has the perfect governing proposal. However, we can all agree that it is important to have a governing process in place. There are challenges we will need to face such as maintaining the legitimacy of the governance, determining who gets to vote, the weight of each stakeholder and voters and legitimizing decisions made. However, the opportunities outweigh the challenges. The QLC team is always open for the community to share their comments and suggestions to improve the current community governance protocol. If you have any comments and suggestions to share, please feel free to post on our subreddit r/QLCchain.
