Santa appeared at several major spots in Mumbai over the Christmas period, bringing smiles to several needy children as Ketto’s ‘Ho Ho Ho’ army of around 50 Santas, including Ketto co-founder and Bollywood star Kunal Kapoor, distributed some delicious candy and snacks, and most importantly, some truly effervescent holiday cheer.

The Santa Squad began their voyage at DN Nagar Metro Station and went all the way to Andheri railway station, distributing their goodies to the poor on the way. Even policemen, manual laborers and sanitation workers were thanked for their commendable service and keeping Amchi Mumbai Safe, Clean and Green.

They then rode on the local train from Andheri to Bandra, singing and spreading holiday cheer. At Bandra, they disembarked and took the BEST to Mehboob Studios.

Throughout the march of ‘red’, people stopped and took pictures and videos with the members of the procession, with special attention given to Kunal Kapoor, who was clearly an idol to many of those who wished to interact with the Santas. Kunal is well known for his charitable, and social impact ventures.

They then walked from Mehboob Studios to St. Catherine’s of Siena Home and School of Destitute Children, taking the famous Mount Mary steps.

This particular establishment has over 250 children to provide for. Created as a specialized society for impoverished children, the school/orphanage was established by Father Anthony Elenjimittam, a friend of Mahatma Gandhi, who was his mentor. Since 1957, St. Catherine’s has cared for and educated children of lower castes who are deemed by society as unworthy of education.

And those kids were in for a treat this day!

The Santas led by Kunal then proceeded to give gifts to all the children. These gifts included — stationery, watches, chocolates, and Santa caps.

Once all the gifts were given to the kids, a magic show organized in a special theater hall that ultimately left them spell-bound and mesmerized. The magic show included a plethora of tricks. The kids couldn’t control their excitement, constantly cheering the dazzling theatrics they were witnessing.

Finally, the famished kids were served healthy snacks like idlis, and one final group photo was taken. The Santas brought Love, Hope, Joy…and Toys, all wrapped in a big Santa hug!

The Ketto Santas would also like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
