India’s best crowdfunding platform, Ketto, over the years has helped raise funds and create meaningful impact for a large number of NGOs and non-profits. The online fundraising platform has been able to channelise a sustainable change through its intervention. Some ecstatic Ketto reviews speak volume for the work it has been able to do in the NGO crowdfunding space.

Ketto campaigns not only help the organisations to popularise their cause but also mobilise like-minded people who want to support their initiative. Online crowdfunding involves raising small amounts of money from a large number of interested people using the internet. The procedure has replaced most traditional means of raising funds like door-to-door appeals and telephone calls. It’s convenient, cost-efficient and easy.

No matter whatever is the cause, all NGOs require help both in terms of funds and workforce. In order to support an NGO, one has to keep in mind the nature of work it does and the scale on which the aid is provided. NGOs depend on a different set of sources for funding projects, operations, salaries and other overhead costs. The annual budget of an NGO can be in lakhs and crores and that is why fundraising efforts are important for its existence and success.

Here are some of the major reasons why an NGO should give crowdfunding a try:

Raising Funds: Plenty of NGOs today are fighting various social battles which are significant to drive positive change in society. From education among underprivileged children to supporting victims of acid attacks, the multitude of initiatives NGOs take care for the betterment of society which is often constrained by the lack of funds. This is one of the biggest reasons, NGOs should opt for online crowdfunding, which will allow them to reach out to masses, build awareness and at the same time attract donations.

For instance, YUWA, an NGO based in Jharkhand raised funds on Ketto to stop the heinous crimes of human trafficking and child marriage. This NGO has been fighting these evils through education and sports since 2009. The girls supported by this NGO have been earning accolades in academics and sports, changing the perception and outlook of their communities. Due to crowdfunding, the cause got a lot of support and most importantly visibility. YUWA runs a football programme for over 450 girls, which won the revered Laureus Sport for Good Award in February 2019.

Find Your Supporters

Everybody has causes which are close to their hearts, issues they feel strongly about and movements they want to be a part of. And online crowdfunding is the best way to reach these potential donors.

The House of Stray Animals an NGO in Delhi found a unique way to keep their furry friends warm and cosy, by donating woollen blankets, sweaters and even beds during the winters. Ketto partnered with the organisation to pioneer the efforts of distributing these sweaters and keeping stray dogs warm during the biting cold. A sum of Rs 20,952 was raised by 27 supports to fund this noble initiative.

Get Corporate Support

With the corporate CSR guidelines mandating certain companies to dedicate 2% of their profits to CSR, many enterprises are constantly on the lookout for initiatives which can make a difference and are worth their contributions. This provides corporates with a chance to build their social brand gives NGOs a voice and easy access to funds!

Umeed was launched by Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, for Udbhav School, run by the IIMAAA charitable trust. He, along with a few others, cycled 1,000 km from Mumbai to Telangana to raise funds and awareness for the school. Later, RBL bank decided to match every donation with an equal amount from their CSR funds. A total of Rs.14, 42,466 was raised on Ketto for Udbhav School due to RBL’s CSR promotion.

Gain Supporters’ Trust

Hundreds of people want to support meaningful causes but get confused when it comes to donating money, fearing fraud. Online crowdfunding allows campaigners to reach out to their donors keeping them abreast with how the funds are being used and to what extent has the target been achieved.

An example of this is the fundraiser launched by Waste Warriors, an NGO that had been working hard to keep the mountains clean across various places in Himachal Pradesh. Without any external support, they opted fro crowdfunding on Ketto so that they could keep their projects going in Dharamshala. With a few weeks, they raised over Rs 4.5 lakh and the people who donated for the cause were given fully tax exempt. Factors like these, instil trust in donors who are then willing to make more generous donations and also encourage their friends and family to do the same.

Thus crowdfunding helps NGOs build its brand equity, raise awareness and most importantly raise funds. Through Ketto, donors can contribute using a variety of secure payment options, as per their comfort, and are assured of their contributions reaching their cause.
