Final Project Begins

Our final project teams were announced today.

I’m working on the Spotify Intro game which I’m delighted about as it was one of the ideas I pitched.

This is a game we started after watching the Rubberbandits play a gig in Cork.

They played the wrong intro for a song and Blindboy cut Willie O’DJ off immediately. He then played a game where Willie O’DJ would play ‘just a mickey hair of a song’ and they’d see if the could name it.

My friends and I tried this game on our spotify with one person being able to see the screen and they’d pick a famous genre and then hit the spacebar twice as fast as they could in order to play as short a snippet of the song as is possible.

Watching people guess so many different tunes with the teeniest snippet was super fun. It was amazing that with just the start of a snare hit or chord that songs were so instantly recognizable. I’ve played the game with different groups and always been a great night.

The app would remove the part of the game that required the quizmaster to have to be so dextrous with their spacebar presses and also allows all members to play the game by hiding what track is being played.

I made a few preliminary sketches of what was in my head for MVP when I originally pitched.

Screen 1 — Start random song

Screen 2 — Play first second of the song

Screen 3 — You have time to name the song

Screen 4 — Answer, mark if you got it wrong or right

I can’t imagine that this will be what our MVP actually looks like but its a start.

This is part of my daily blog series while I attend Makers Academy coding bootcamp. If you’d like to read more you can find them here.
