Did you know that there are over one million words in the English language? How many do you think we use everyday? And what does that tell us about how to choose our friends” Jack explain the importance of the 80/20 principle and the power of defriending people in the video below.

The 80/20 principle was first described by economist Vilfredo Pareto and used by Richard Koch in his books, The 80/20 Principle and Living the 80/20 Way.

The principle suggests that 80% of results come from just 20% of our activities. The rest of what we do is, just like obsolete words, pretty pointless when it comes to achieving our desired outcomes.

How many of your friends make you feel happy to be around?

Probably only a few. Trying to share your time between all of these people will lead you to spend most of your time being bored, unhappy, and unfulfilled. So don’t. Find the 20% of your friends you like and spend 80% of your free time with them. You’ll end up feeling much happier. Like this tidbit?
