This past week, we had a chance to exhibit at National Engineering Expo at Centennial College. This was an event to celebrate creativity, innovation and engineering. What do engineers do really? The simple answer is: they design and engineer a better world.

While attending the expo, we came across a poem by Natalie. This poem changed our perspective on things. As a startup, this vision resonated with us deeply. The notion of building and designing something better for the world. It goes back to why it all started. When this poem was read, Natalie’s professor said, “I will read this to my children tonight”. Here it goes:

Design and Engineer a Better World

Build a BETTER World. Piece by Piece.
There is a place for you! And me!
You are a part of it.
And EVERY part is IMPORTANT
Every piece contributes something *valuable*
Every piece is a step further to something GREATER
Like LEGO we are STRONGER TOGETHER
Like LEGO we all fit somewhere
We are different shapes and sizes
and our differences are complimentary
Our diversity makes us stronger
in the face of adversity
Every challenge is an opportunity for growth
And a whole is the sum of many parts
BE A PART OF IT!
Design and Engineer a better world
The future is made of us!
AND WE ARE STARDUST

- By Natalie Tripp

Every line in this poem has such a deep meaning and can be applicable in different areas of our lives. Everyone can contribute something to achieve a greater good by working together. When you are looking for a career or at your workplace, remember that every challenge should be seen as an opportunity to grow. The best line of this poem is perhaps, “Like LEGO we all fit somewhere!”. You have to continue believing in yourself and your mission. There’s a place out there for all us. Let us build a better world together!
