It’s time for The Unofficial Weekly Stratis Retrospect #52.

In this edition, I will look back at the previous two weeks instead of the previous week alone as I didn’t write a weekly last week. I also would like to take this chance to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for reading my articles.
Stratis Smart Contract and Sidechain Production Release
On 27 December 2018 Stratis completed a massive milestone, they released their Stratis Smart Contract and Sidechains Production Release. You can read about the release here.
This combination of two of their technologies forms an ideal pairing and marks the production release of both sidechains and smart contracts. As part of this release, Stratis has launched the Cirrus sidechain that supports smart contracts. The sidechain is secured using a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus algorithm, which requires a federation to be in place.
Later on, an updated instance of Stratis Core will be released. This new version will enable users to seamlessly deploy smart contracts from the Stratis Core UI. A preview of this can be found below.
CEO Chris Trew stated the following about the release:
I believe Stratis is the first project to deliver Turing complete smart contracts that are not executed by a patched together version of the Ethereum VM! Our smart contracts a very different to everything that exists today.
Head Developer of the Smart Contracts team Jordan Andrews stated the following about the release:
Also, Stratis haven’t just hacked the EVM onto our chain. So far as I’m aware, no other coins have taken such a radical and unique approach to contract execution. I harp on about this all the time but, yeah, the way contracts are executed is completely new.
