Coinbase Launches Crypto Visa Debit Card For UK

Last week Coinbase announced the launch of the Coinbase Card, a Visa debit card that lets customers in the UK spend crypto as effortlessly as the money in their bank. Coinbase Card is currently only available in the UK, but they plan to support other European countries in the coming months.

You can read Coinbase’s full announcement here. If you want more information about the Coinbase Card you can find on their website here.

New York Rejects Bittrex BitLicense Application

Bad news for Bittrex Exchange last week. They released a statement on the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) their decision to not grant Bittrex a BitLicense.

Bittrex is saddened and disappointed in today’s decision by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), which we believe harms rather than protects New York customers. Bittrex fully disputes the findings of the NYDFS in today’s decision. We have worked diligently with NYDFS to address their questions and meet their requirements since first applying for our BitLicense in August of 2015.

You can read all the details in Bittrex their statement here.

Bitstamp Obtains BitLicense

Good news for Bitstamp last week. The New York State Department has granted them a BitLicense. This allows Bitstamp to continue providing crypto trading services in the US and paves the way for us to expand our presence in the States.

Bitstamp has always embraced regulatory efforts which focus on transparency and accountability that can help expand the industry. Obtaining a BitLicense is a key element in ramping up our presence in the United States, especially when it comes to working with institutional investors.

Opera Launches New Browser With Cryptocurrency Wallet

Opera has officially launched the desktop version of its new browser with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet.

You can find more information about the browser and its crypto wallet here.

That’s it for now. All the best to everyone!
