In my Weekly Crypto Overview, I will assemble the important news of the last week and make a summary of it. This way you will have one place to go for all the significant events that happened the week before in crypto. I hope you enjoy it and that it saves you a lot of time searching for all the news. Bitfinex and $LEO

Bitfinex may move to raise as much as $1 billion through a token sale as soon as next week. Zhao Dong, a Bitfinex shareholder who first revealed the exchange was thinking of doing an initial exchange offering (IEO) earlier this week, posted on WeChat Wednesday that individuals interested in participating should reach out to either him or to DFund, a group he founded.

There will be a minimum buy-in of $1 million, and a total supply of 1 billion tokens, available for $1 each, Zhao wrote. He further claimed that $500 million has already been subscribed.

CoinMarketCap Alliance

On CoinMarketCap’s 6th birthday they announced their DATA Alliance. The goals of the Data Accountability & Transparency Alliance is to get greater transparency, accountability, and disclosure from projects in the crypto space.

This initiative is underpinned by our belief that the provision of additional data points would: (i) empower our users to make more informed decisions, and (ii) provide a means for projects to differentiate themselves through enhanced disclosures.

Craig Wright Ordered To Court

A U.S. federal court has ordered self-proclaimed bitcoin inventor Craig Wright to disclose his bitcoin addresses in an ongoing lawsuit filed against him by the estate of a former business partner.

Wright is being sued by Ira Kleiman on behalf of the estate of his brother, the late Dave Kleiman. The Australian entrepreneur is accused of scheming to “seize Dave’s bitcoins and his rights to certain intellectual property associated with the bitcoin technology.”

US Income Tax Payers Get Refunds In Bitcoin

BitPay, the largest global blockchain payments provider, announced last week that Refundo, a leading provider of tax related financial products, is making federal and state tax refunds available in Bitcoin directly to taxpayers through BitPay’s Payouts. Refundo taxpayers can receive all or a portion of the federal and state tax refunds in Bitcoin using Refundo’s CoinRT product.

We are thrilled to power Refundo’s CoinRT product. Refundo can now offer their customers a Bitcoin Payout for their tax refunds, meeting their customers’ demand for a more digital choice.
