Cosmon: What’s next?

Only 6 months ago we announced Cosmon and with it we announced that Play-To-Earn is finally coming to the Cosmos ecosystem. Since then, a lot has happened: 2 private sales, a whitelisted sale and an airdrop to the Cosmos ecosystem that were followed by the public mint that went live last Monday!

The public sale is the last milestone in our roadmap before launching Cosmon and releasing the game. There will be no end date for the sale, minting Cosmon leaders will be possible as long as it’s not sold-out. We wanted to stray away from speculation and offer future Cosmonauts the same entry levels prior to the game launch.

In this article we’re going to share with you some updates about the recent events and our plans going forward regarding the gameplay and Cosmon’s rewards distribution system.

To set the stage for those who are reading about the project for the first time: Cosmon is based on a rewarding and engaging model that benefits NFTs’ holders with recurring $XKI rewards and top-performing players with significant prize pools.

Cosmon will be a fully on-chain game running on top of the Ki Chain. Therefore, choosing $XKI as our in-game asset made perfect sense: If we learned anything from previous Play-to-earn games, it’s that having one single asset to pay for transaction fees, engage in gameplay, purchase game accessories and claiming rewards makes for a better economic model.

Especially when considering the utilities of $XKI as the native token of a layer-1 onboarding real-life businesses to Web3 and the demand that comes with it.

Wen rewards?

Just like the gameplay, rewards distribution mechanism is something we’ve been working hard on.

The models we’ve put in place are battle-tested and functioning perfectly.

Even though the public sale isn’t over yet, Cosmon has already started distributing rewards to its holders. Over 410,000 $XKI has been distributed in the last 2 months.

Wen rewards you ask?

As mentioned above, rewards are distributed weekly, every Monday.

Yesterday, Cosmon holders (Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary) that minted their leaders recently, received their first weekly rewards!

Here are the estimated APYs per level of rarity:

Uncommon cards: 15%
Rare cards: 20%
Epic cards: 25%
Legendary cards: 40%

On top of the 50k Stakedrop of Cosmon cards that was released for the Cosmos community, we also wanted to reward the communities of the cosmos chains and the ecosystem major contributors through honorary artwork collectibles that will onboard collection holders to the gameplay through a Cosmon airdrop. A smaller number of the collection holders, that will be chosen randomly, will benefit from Uncommon cards (only obtained through the mint) and $XKI rewards.

Earlier this week, as some of you might have noticed, we dropped an NFT collection named the Comdexer on Stargaze. The collection consisted of a one-of-many NFT artwork dedicated to the Comdex network and its community.

This will be the first-of-many collections that will be released in the future to our partner chains so keep an eye on our twitter page, where we will announce the release of the following collections.

To make sure these drops are fair and inclusive, we capped the minting to 1 per wallet at an affordable price by everyone.

Wen Gameplay?

Now, to the most important part: Wen gameplay? Cosmon is a Play-To-Earn game after all.

When we set off to build Cosmon, our main focus was on two things: A game that is engaging but also fair, especially that there will be significant prize pools to win weekly.

Cosmon’s gameplay is going to roll out in two phases. The first version is going to be a training mode, released in September, where players will need a deck of 3 cards to engage in Cosmon battles against bots. Why? Because, even we don’t know how the gameplay is going to be. Besides the obvious affinities such as: being from the same geographical zone or the same era we do not actually know which combination of leaders would make the most powerful deck.

Only by engaging in training-mode battles will players be able to have an understanding of the fighting formula and the strength and weaknesses of their decks in order to adjust their leaders formation accordingly.

In other words, the best way to be a top-performing player is by training your leaders and participating in training mode. The slight advantage that rarer cards have over others could be overcome by engaging in more battles.

This is where early holders of Cosmons will have another advantage. On top of the weekly $XKI rewards, participants in training-mode will have a head start over other players when the full gameplay rolls out giving them a higher chance of winning the prize pools.

Keep an eye on our website prior to the launch of gameplay, we are going to kickstart battles with a massive prize pool!

Cosmon is going to bring fully on-chain Play-To-Earn gaming to the Cosmos ecosystem and open-source the gameplay. The ecosystem is growing by the day and we are very excited to see more focus on gaming development by builders leveraging Cosmon’s gameplay.
