The last few weeks have been exhausting. Wosmongton and his team have been working tirelessly to finish the cloning process.

There’s little time to spare and the pressure is on: Wosmongton knows that his leaders need to be operational as soon as possible and ready to fight the imminent threat.

After long days and nights experimenting in the lab, he’s confident about the power and strength of these iconic historical figures, as well as their potential to overcome any obstacle they face. The one thing he does have some reservations about, though, is his ability to reign them in and control their movements. Indeed, there have even been some scuffles. Cosmon’s leaders have turned out to be volatile sorts, ready to fight but not yet disciplined enough to engage in battle in a calm and strategic way.

Wosmongton is, understandably, nervous: unleashing the clones at this stage could result in chaos and ruin their chances of overcoming their foes.

That’s why he’s decided to proceed with caution: opening up a space for the leaders to take their first steps, where the stakes are lower and lessons can be learned. This training mode will see them sharpen their skills against bots; a process of trial and error which will allow them to improve their responses and better equip them for full-scale game play.

Not so long ago, we officially introduced the Cosmon Arena and the Deck-Building feature allowing holders to build their decks and explore the various synergies between their leaders. now that hundreds of decks have been built and the Arena has opened its doors for the training mode, the Cosmon battles could begin!

It’s worth noting that even though the Cosmon battles are bout to begin, our Cosmon leaders haven’t been sitting idle. They have been hard at work and their holders reaping significant rewards totalling over 830,000 $XKI!
Here is a quick recap of our leaders’ performance per rarity:

  • Uncommon Leaders: 34% APR
  • Rare Leaders: 35% APR
  • Epic Leaders: 41% APR
  • Legendary Leaders: 75% APR

In this article we will introduce the training-mode, how it works and the crucial role it will play for holders, in anticipation for the championships launch:

As we mentioned in previous occasions, our Cosmon leaders have different characteristics and affinities that, if exploited correctly, could give additional boosts to the deck. Holders were able to explore these boosts at a first time with the Deck-Building feature. However, in order to better prepare for the Championships and fully unlock your deck’s potential, players need to battle-test their leaders.

Enters Training mode… Players will be able to engage in battles by being matched with a Cosmon Bot and witness, first hand, the performance of their leaders. Let’s take a look at how it works:

Note: To enter the training mode, players will need ready-to-use decks. If you haven’t created yours yet, feel free to check out our step-by-step tutorial on how to do it:

When you head over to the Cosmon Arena, you will now see the fighting option under all of your decks and by clicking on it, you will initiate your first Cosmon battle! Given the on-chain nature of Cosmon’s gameplay, please note that this step requires $XKI for transaction fees.

If the Fight button is greyed out please remember that all leaders have a Fighting Points gauge that determines how many fights they’re allowed to participate in:

  • Common: 3 FPs
  • Uncommon: 4 FPs
  • Rare: 5 FPs
  • Epic: 6 FPs
  • Legendary: 7 FPs

At the moment the fighting gauge for every leader is replenished with 3 additional FP hourly but in the future players won’t have to wait and will be able to opt-in for replenishment boosts.

Matchmaking:

Once you engage in a fight, the training-mode will match you with a Bot opponent. Your opponent’s deck will be selected from all the other decks created within the game. In order to make this more fair, the matchmaking process will prioritise decks that are similar to yours in terms of strength and rarity. It’s possible to be matched with one of your other decks if you have more than one.

Battle:

Once you’re matched with an opponent, the battle starts:

As seen above, it all begins with the formation of both decks facing each other. With the player’s deck on the bottom of the opponent’s. The initial health bar of each leader is displayed in green under its name. You can also notice the additional boosts obtained by both decks on the left and right sides of the screen.

The events of battle could be followed visually by looking at the movements of cards and animations of damage inflicted or through the comment box in the bottom.

If you are impatient and can’t wait to get to the next fight, like most of us, you can always press the fast-forward button on the bottom right!

Outcome:

The outcome of every battle is determined when either of the engaging decks’ leaders are KO’ed and a highlight of the fight is displayed:

All battle events are recorded and could be reviewed the fight by simply clicking on “Open Logs”.

Experience Points and levelling-up:

One of the main advantages of being early and engaging in the training-mode is that your leaders gain XP points and level-up.
It’s important to note that XP points are only attributed when you win your Cosmon battles and a detailed account of XP gains and characteristics evolution is displayed post-battle:

Now that you know how it works, it’s time to head over to the Arena and start your first fight! ⚔️
And remember, The fights happen on-chain but everything else is on Discord! So don’t forget to join us there to discuss the outcome of your fights with the community, we got a few surprises to the first few winners!

By engaging in Cosmon battles in training-mode, players will have a better understanding of the strengths & weaknesses of their decks as well as gaining XP points and levelling up their leaders which in turn will better prepare them to enter the championships and boost their chances of sharing in the prize pools.
