Ultimate destination for digital nomads — Co-Working and Co-Living

All Remote interviewed Emilie who is based in Azores island in Portugal.

She is co-founder of coworkation splace Novovento.

She told us very interesting story in managing it.

1: Your place is very interesting, is there any interesting story in starting this?

Novovento- new wind — born from our desire to translate into a professional activity what we want to live on a personal level: movement, inspiration, meeting, sharing, creation …
The Azores, by their privileged location — an island at the crossroads of all the winds — and their strong volcanic identity, as well as the Azorean culture, made of simplicity and welcome, was the ideal ground to attempt this adventure.

2: About your business, how does it work?

We receive three types of public:

- backpackers who wish to visit the island of São Miguel, and to whom Novovento offers moments of conviviality (BBQ party, sharing dinners …);

- DNX and coworkers, who come to work, exchange and recharge for a few weeks. From next season we will offer this audience a set of workshops focused on craft creation and personal development;

- teams looking for an inspiring place to which Novovento offers “all inclusive” offers: privileged work spaces, accommodation and meals, exploration of the Azores.

Backpackers and DNX are compatible: same state of mind, desire to share and meet people, almost same age group

3: Where are the most beautiful places in your area?

It’s impossible not to mention the caldera at the foot of which Novovento is located: Sete Cidades. In 45 minutes of walking (or 20 minutes by road!) You are in front of the famous blue and green lakes, one of the major sites of the Azores. A few km — in Ferraria — you can also enjoy tasting hot water (60 ° C!) Coming up in the ocean … which fortunately cools it! A little further it will be Mosteiros, its black sand beach and its natural pools. But the discoveries do not stop there because the island, although small, abounds with more extraordinary places than the others!

4: What are the most delicious foods in your local place?

The Azorean food is simple, often spicy .. and always delicious: beef, octopus… The addresses to recommend are not lacking.Not to mention the inevitable Cozido, cooked in the volcano Furnas.

5: Is there any advices or tips for digital nomad to make remote work life better?

Feel at home everywhere: this is what our guests tell us when they leave Novovento … promising to come back.
Find a balance between moments of solidarity and exchange within a small community: our spaces and the moments we propose seek to facilitate this research.
(to) unplug! There is a moment for everything. Novovento is a workspace (facing the sea) but it is also a place to dream, read … and do Nothing!

6: What are main 3 problems digital nomads have? (we hope we can solve it with our technology)

These difficulties are not related to technologies — which answer the majority of DNX needs. In Novovento, in the middle of the Atlantic, we offer a wired connection of 200 MBPS. it’s enough to work!
They relate more to this personal balance previously mentioned. In Novovento, we offer a facilitating organization, which accompanies each one individually and collectively.
