Back to school full of news for us at Kibo!
Promotions
We could not be happier to announce several promotions within the investment team. Juan López Santamaría and Joaquín Rebuelta become Kibo Partners and Jordi Vidal has been promoted to Principal. We are super proud to have the most stable team in the industry.
Juan and Joaquín have been with us since the very beginning and have been instrumental in building what Kibo stands for today. Juan has earned his wings working alongside great founders at Devo, Defined Crowd and at some of our exits such as Blueliv, Billin or Captio. Joaquín has been instrumental in the growth of companies such as Paack and Gamelearn and a key driver in the Promofarma exit. Jordi becomes a principal after joining Kibo in 2017. Jordi has led one of our most recent investments, Gamestry, and has worked hand in hand with multiple founders in companies such as Exoticca or Bipi. Jordi leads our efforts in Barcelona and is a true dealflow hunter with a great mind to spot tech talent.
We have strengthened our operations team promoting María Rosillo to operations manager to work alongside our COO Valeria Loewe. María is the true heart and soul of Kibo, our secret weapon.
New hires
We have also added two incredibly talented investment managers, Pol Fañanás and Covadonga García Valdés to the investment team. Both bring a wealth of different experience and skillsets and share a passion for tech, which we love.
Pol is a startup operator turned investor and our crypto and all things moonshot expert. He joins us from Validated ID (esignature and decentralized identity backed by Caixa Capital Risc, Randstad and Cuatrecasas), where he helped the founders build a B2B SaaS and scale up to 1000+ customers, 6 digit MRR and 45+ people team. He is also an Included VC Fellow, Co-Founder of Views and a Teaching Assistant in finance, fintech and blockchain/crypto at ESADE.
Cova also has an entrepreneurial past. She was bitten by the start up bug after spending time at Goldman Sachs in the M&A Financial Institutions Group and the M&A Natural Resources Team. She helped launch Agora (London based tech startup disrupting the beauty industry through social commerce, backed by Draper Esprit, Lakestar and Angel Capital Management) but luckily for us, she decided to switch to the other side and come and join the team in Madrid.
New branding
After almost 10 years we felt it was time for a face-lift. We are happy to present our new web site www.kiboventures.com where you will see we have changed our branding and logo. We feel our new branding gives a better sense of who we are and how we want to work with companies to help them scale, without losing our identity as operators working closely with teams. We also wanted to better highlight our values centered around our commitment to entrepreneurs, creating impact and supporting diversity.
New home
We have invested in our team to better serve our portfolio and look for the next generation of Kibo companies. A bigger team needed a bigger home. We open the doors of Kibo House to our portfolio and to entrepreneurs with bold ideas and great passion.
