Early-stage startups often leave certifications to the last minute. It feels like an overwhelming task, but putting it off could spell disaster for your product and your company.

Whether you have a Bluetooth radio that needs to meet FCC or CE regulations or a UL certification to list before working with a distributor, you need to research all the potential regulations that might apply to your product. You can get help from certification suppliers (like SGS or Intertek) and online resources (such as this three-part series from Dragon Innovation), but, most importantly, start sooner rather than later.

In this video, Dragon Innovation project manager Spencer Hartfield shares an overview of why you should think about certification when you’re still in your design phase and how missteps can derail you.
