As much as I try to stay away from celebrity pregnancy news, I have to make an exception this week. Sadly, celebrity parents Chrissy Teigen and John Legend suffered a miscarriage this week. As celebrities who have made parenthood such a big part of their “personal brands,” it was not surprising that the couple shared their heartbreaking story (and pictures) with the world, pretty much as it happened. Given that 10 to 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, their story is super relatable — and, based on the outpouring of support the couple got — the fact that they shared it meant a lot to a lot of people.

Meanwhile, just a few miles away, former NFL superstar Joe Montana and his wife Jennifer saved their 9-month-old grandchild from an attempted kidnapping in their Los Angeles home.

On a lighter note: Roald Dahl’s spooky classic, The Witches, is getting a reboot this fall, with Anne Hathaway taking the lead as the grand high witch. As much as my family loves the Anjelica Huston version, we’re looking forward to loving this one even more.

Overheard on the Playground

“Why do we not expect a working man to be looking after their children as much as their partner is? We expect women to take on that responsibility, and yet for some reason, we give men a free pass.”

Keira Knightley
