How to Digest a New Language in a Way That’s Palatable

Hola a todos! Are you a parent who wants to encourage your child to learn another language? Maybe you want to brush up on your high school Espanol as well? There are multitudes of reasons to become multi-lingual but did you know that studies show speaking more that one language leads to better brain function? According to a New York Times article titled Why Bilinguals Are Smarter By Yudhijit Bhattacharjee:

“…the collective evidence from a number of such studies suggests that the bilingual experience improves the brain’s so-called executive function — a command system that directs the attention processes that we use for planning, solving problems and performing various other mentally demanding tasks.”

Let’s Eat!

Okay, so now you’re hungry for some language learning? Have I got a tasty show for you! It’s the new hit podcast Eat Your Spanish an interactive Spanish learning podcast for children and families.

Hosts Evan & Vanessa bring kid-friendly topics, like numbers and colors, to life through adorable stories and songs. The music course is my favorite part of the Eat Your Spanish “plato”. To me, this is the offering that sets this show apart from other language learning podcasts. The tunes are catchy little earworms that you will actually be happy to have stuck in your head because you are learning FULL SENTENCES in SPANISH! How cool is that? (Step aside “Baby Shark”, it’s time for “Los Pollitos”)

Evan and Vanessa Blum both have a background in Montessori education. Evan is a passionate musician, playing not only guitar but also 20 different instruments, ESTUPENDO!!! Vanessa, a Montessori certified instructor for ages 3–6, spent part of her childhood in Ecuador, speaking both Spanish & English, where she fostered her love of language and culture from an early age. Now Evan and Vanessa share their gift of education, through music and story, with families all over. In fact, they were recently named one of the “Best Latin Kid’s Music Groups” by Billboard.com!!! They have continued to grow their imaginative endeavor resulting in this wonderfully nourishing bilingual podcast.

Always keeping creative learning in mind, Eat Your Spanish offers Lesson Follow Up episodes that allow the listener to review the vocabulary so it becomes fully ingrained. That’s the other great thing about consuming this show, you can keep coming back for second and third helpings of a lesson until you feel fully SATISFECHO!

Speaking of food, I would say this Spanish learning podcast goes down like a delicious bowl of sopa. These two skilled podcasters achieve the perfect balance, serving you rich satisfying fare without any frivolous filler.

Buen Provecho Spanish Learners!!!
