July is Disability Pride Month. It’s a time to honor the stories of more than 1 billion people with disabilities around the globe, a diverse group of people with a wide range of differences. With these stories, we can help kids with disabilities connect to the representation that makes a huge difference in their lives. We can also continue to grow a personal sense of allyship for our non-disabled kids and families.

Here is a fun, informative, and varied roundup of Kids Listen member show episodes, followed by some other great resources for celebrating Disability Pride Month.

Girl Tales

Kemina is there until she must go on a big adventure to save her brother and their land!

Dorktales Storytime: Redge’s K.N.I.G.H.T. School

Dorktales Storytime incorporates empowering messages in their stories, especially for those who are marginalized and misunderstood. In this episode, both voice actors are on the autism spectrum — one is a seasoned professional, and the other is just beginning his acting career. They embody the themes in this story: to be yourself, share your gifts, empower others, and brave your fears to bring about the light. They are working together to find their places in a world that doesn’t always accept those who are different.
